IXION combines city building, survival elements and exploration, into a thrilling space opera as you explore the stars. Propelled onwards through a perilous journey, you are the Administrator of the Tiqqun space station, charged with finding a new home for humanity.
Keeping the station sound and flying will require a deft hand and strategic thinking, as you are constantly pulled between maintaining hull integrity, bringing in new resources and managing power consumption.
What choices will you make when confronted with impending disaster? What will you discover out there in the dark?
Thank you to Kasedo Games & Bulwark Studios for sponsoring this first video of this series.

Ah, nice! Figured you're going to come up with an effective layout :) The auto-repair upgrades for cargo/mining ships do help a lot with their storm-survivability. But nothing's perfect.

You can remove the free workshop without building another one first. Free buildings will instantly deconstruct (once nothing is in its storage) and you get to replace it for free where you want

It looks like you need to take the path of ships into account in this system. I'm not sure if you can set the course of a ship manually to avoid the storms or daisy chain stops to go around them or if you need to move the Tiqqun to get the paths clear but I don't think you can afford to periodically loose 20 polymers and a worker to the storms.

Its not too hard once I figured out the game flow. If people collect every scrap of resources in the Sol system as fast as possible before jumping it helps a lot. You are going to constantly drain Iron for maintenance so stock piling it is important. Carbon is also scarce and needs to be scanned for first. Ice seem really abundant but I still stock pile it and everything else on the map. I build stock piles, fill them, and then turn them off for later. Also Maximizing probe usage by making sure they reveal multiple bight green readings so I'm not wasting Carbon. Also maximizing sectors before opining new ones is important. I also neglected the sub tech upgrades in my first play through and in really hindered me later.

Good points. Playing without the sub-tech upgrades is definitely hard-mode :)

Once you get waste processing up and running, you can relax a bit on resources. You can convert waste into alloys or polymers or electronics.

Yeah, first two minutes cemented that while I might enjoy the concept, the continually compounding permanent hull damage is just too much for me to find it enjoyable. I'm going to enjoy watching this series (and of course mentally nitpicking the ways i'd try things differently, like making the warehouses directly across the road from the factory like i would do in dwarf fortress and gnomoria), but I'd probably not enjoy this without mods to allow me to enjoy it with less stress (including time constraints if any)

Does anyone else imagine Nilaus at a "Reptilian Overlord" board meeting? Nilaus: "If we don't act, the human storage issue will get out of hand. We tried keeping them well fed, watered, and assigning workload only within their physical limits, but now we need more of them to proceed as planned, which keeps exacerbating our current problems. Adding coffee to their diet didn't result in the anticipated +25 effectiveness, so we cannot cull them to more manageable numbers in the foreseeable future. Electronics have proven to be more of a distraction than a force multiplier, since we cannot risk to give them anything advanced enough to detect us. Any more suggestions?" Reptile #1: "We could get by with 10% less living space per human if we treated them differently, you know? Not as parts of the machine, but as people." Reptile #2: _H I S S_ " 'People'? _Human_ words!" Nilaus: "Anyway, where was I? Oh, see here. Humans are hardly classifiable as load-bearing. They cannot work even in stacks of two, even at the low gravity of their homeworld. But see here... if we turn them sideways, we can store them outside their work hours in stacks of up to four, which translates into at least 20% savings, even if it turns out to be inapplicable to half the population." Reptile #2: "Storing them sideways, you say? I think I can fabricate the right kind of propaganda to make them more cooperative. Their electronic capabilities are... sufficient. Oh yes, I think I can put a server up that offers just the right kind of propaganda. And if the department of public affairs puts the right spin on it, they will consume it on their own, in their free time. They seem to prefer names containing colors, rodents, words like flix, hub or tube, and the letter X. Maybe offer them an 'unlimited data plan' too -- for extra hours, of course. Now let me check the available domains..." Everyone: _maniacal laughter_ Nilaus: "Wait WHAT??? That's *420* research cost?" _facepalm_

Rushing to finish the game before they patch the difficulty to match demand. Edit: Having 7 space structures in a section makes the probe launcher work 30% faster. And the eva airlocks 20% more efficient. It's a really powerful bonus.

Listening to these "let's play" of you micro-managing what is in essence a small town, I can see how easy it is to never factor in the "human element" with regards to managing a government like a business. You're always "rush, rush, rush" with minimal consideration of the workers. Yes, it's a game but still. It'd be funny if the devs included a hidden morale boost if players simply shut down everything for one cycle to give the workers a cycle of rest every so often.

And _Ixion_ Ἰξίων is from Greek mythology. It has been used in many games before, e.g. Final Fantasy X and Returnal, probably due to its exceptional shortness for a 3-syllable word, the -on ending which makes it stand out as a Greek word, and the letter X. While not as well known as e.g. _Ares_ Ἄρης, _Zeus_ Ζεύς, _Heracles_ Ἡρακλῆς, it's on par with _Hyperion_ Ὑπερίων, _Phobos_ Φόβος, _Artemis_ Ἄρτεμις, _Iehova_ Ἰεχωβά, _Charon_ Χάρων, and less uncommon than _Phrike_ Φρίκη or _Ophion_ Ὀφίων. BTW, Phobos means fear, Phrike means horror, and Pan is the origin of the word "panic".

it's ok to refuse the requests. I'm actually not sure if it's a bug, but refusing to shut down the factories(and some other bad requests) didn't seem to have any impact at all. Even if you lost a chunk of trust, just keeping all sectors neutral(which is where you want them to avoid strikes) you pretty much always go back to 100% trust in a few cycles. Then again, maybe at the end, there's some consequence to what ending or achievements you get?
@TheFuzzician
@TheFuzzician Жыл бұрын
The issue is that, since trust goes up and down every cycle, flat bonuses or penalties are meaningless. They should have been ongoing effects.
@chilled_legumes
@chilled_legumes Жыл бұрын
@@TheFuzzician Imagine if the game starts with the trust cap very low, and the reward for completing crew requests was an increase to the trust cap. Kinda a reverse version of what happens to the hull as you jump.

I just got the propaganda option yesterday. Not sure if high propaganda ever has drawbacks? It's such an odd menu because you can only choose "normal" or "high" propaganda, with no option to have none. The game just assumes you want propaganda lol.

Might be. Four keys that really make a difference are: 1) Specialization is huge. 2) Keep optimized work environment as much as possible. More workers doesn't hurt you at all (except food and housing but those can be worked around). 3) Don't ignore those upgrade researches, at least some of them are HUGE. 4) Don't import those "popsicles" until you are ready to deal with them. Having them hang around in storage makes people upset, but they don't care if they are still in space.

i see you don't have a problem with non-workers in this stage , i made the same as you did but now i have in sector 3 - 200+ people where is 19 workers and all others is non workers and i cant do anything i lose game ((((
@rremnar
@rremnar Жыл бұрын
You have steel and polymer production; i could see sector 3's use for additional storage or extra food production. Why do you need 6 sectors? The Ticcun will forever be hull damaged. Unless you unlock new material synthesis buildings, i don't see the need for the nightmare of managing 6 sectors. Unless you need workers, there's no need to thaw those you find in frozen stasis.

Except for the missions that say "thaw 2000 popsicles". Also, after a specific research pops generate free resources via waste.

you need exosuits and deepdive equipment for your science ship in this system don´t let your ships enter storm let them fly around it or it goes boom😁. don´t worry you get 1k cryochambers in this sector when you open them maybe use the decree for workers only for 15 cycles

Propaganda buildings? At this point in the game? It should have been in the beginning; but it's obvious you don't need it. I don't understand the thought process of the devs when unlocking things. Like how does such a building help you? Are people losing moral, starting revolts? There are other things to improve that, not through bull shit lol Edit: In my mind, propaganda is suggestive things to get people to behave in a certain way, usually through media and signs all over, in order to sway politics one way or another. The DLS building seems to be more of general governance, such as laws and restrictions, instead of political nonesense.

There is the police building for "preventing revolts" (gives stability only when in negative stability), which makes sense, if people are already happy, police doesnt change things
