Alan is consistent in that so many channels waste your life 10 minutes at a time Alan can talk for 2 hours and not a single moment is wasted and hold you and give you pure meat and potatoes. No fluff. The point, the possible counterpoint. And if its the context of a musing or if its something you cant ignore. But there will always be true value and honesty in there being a joke or not. He often black and white tells you the level of seriousness he even means to come across as so its not to be mistaken. You can leave any time you like if its not the subject you were looking for. But you wont. Because he says exactly what he means to say which is exactly what is "advertised" from him. As a man and a conversationalist without even philosophy he doesnt bullsht you even if he makes jokes. He respects your time but is able to not be to jargon-y or fanatic he raises the intelligence floor quickly up to speed then gives you the full concept and complication. By simple means.

He’s reading from the I Ching Hexagrams and beforehand you can hear him say E63 (to reference that hexagram) and then he gets to a G hexagram. As if correcting himself like yes it’s G, he says G again.

I don't see the big deal about this guy. He says very little that I haven't pondered myself at some point or another throughout my life. I suspect that the main reason he's so prevalent on KZbin is to obscure the Scottish thinker Alan Watt. A cynic who made many interesting observations about society and the ruling class. This guy is pushed just like Chompsky was, but at least this fellow isn't full of shit. And he speaks clearly too, Chompsky talked quietly so you'd have to lean in to hear him bc the crap that came out of his mouth wasn't interesting enough on its own merit.
