Mr. Laws, I am a big fan of yours and I hope my saying so gives you a little encouragement to continue what I consider to be a valuable commodity in our day. So few things in modern life give me a sense of peace and some hope for the future, but you do that very thing. Looking to the past provides hope for the future and I greatly appreciate your work. Until the Prince of Peace puts all that oppose Him beneath His feet, I pray for His kingdom come and His will be done in your life and all those who watch and wait. Godspeed!

Donnie, you are a man after my own heart. Love the way you say chimlee. I pronounce it that way but don't hear it much anymore. Your video was bitter sweet. Preservation has its benefits but feel a tinge of sadness that indigenous pioneers were evicted off this land by the government. Glad you document in video the old cemeteries.

Thank you for this highly informative video. I learned new things about “upping stones”, dual entry doors for genders in churches, and a beautiful sawtooth oak! My great uncle was a cooper by trade and made barrels for a local salt works during the civil war; salt was needed to preserve meat/food supplies for the troops. We found lots of barrel hoops on the property. Fascinating video, thank you; love the whispers of history my friend. 🦃🍁

I can't say for sure, but that saw tooth probably is only a little over 50 years old. Two buddies of mine planted a bunch of them about 20 years ago. It was kinda a fad, people planted them because they would spread out like a live oak, but grew a lot quicker. Also people planted them for the huge acorn crops, for deer and turkey, only problem is deer would rather have white oak acorns and other native acorns. That specimen may be too old to have acorns, I have white oaks over 3 feet across, and they never have acorns.

Awesome my friend. Thanks so much for sharing this. 😊
@Thoreau-e4l46 минут бұрын
@donnielaws7020 looking at growth rates and the fact that the tree is in full sun, it may not even be 50 years old. Probably planted by someone when they first started importing sawtooths, for acorns for deer and turkey, notice how they cut around it.
