I’ve been working for a large bank for 3 years now. I’ve upskilled during my time there and used the tools available to do some statistical inferencing (not even machine learning). I’m on a quant team and no one knows what I do. My boss doesn’t know what I do. They know basic analytics, but it’s very frustrating to not be valued. Ive never felt that I was advanced, but I’m posting to demonstrate how truly small real quant analysis is.

😅 I was hoping you saw my question. Thank you for answering it! This was very insightful and I’ll keep this in mind when looking for companies to work for.

Thank you for these insights Dimitri! I have seen quite a few of your tutorial videos and was wondering if you would ever consider putting out examples of your preferred documentation rigor and things of that nature mentioned at 16:41 I am not in the quant space, but have a pretty healthy math, stats, and coding background and am looking to learn more - mainly to try to stay sharp. Would love to see you pick apart example documentation and explain your evaluation process :) Thank you!

I recently left my job as a quant researcher (exotics pricing) at a large investment bank. It was very boring. Now I'm moving to the buy side. Hopefully it will be a bit more interesting.

Dimitri, thanks for your knowledge, I was a bit lost at the beginning with the quant stuff but I got a question, I was looking in the past one of your videos where you say the CompSci just a allow you to prepared for other fields but in the case of Quant carers or progression is gonna be worthless, I don't wanna make a mistake due a I'm 23 and i want to start applying to colleges to be honest I like very much technology and numbers but in general I don't wanna make a mistake, I know a guy who was saying on one of their videos "Study this things in College on CompSci to be a Quant"

@josephyunganaula8826 computer science is one skill within quant. This who specialize in computer science trend to do quant dev in the quant space. They focus on optimization and model implementation. Quant research is more focus on math and stats however you still need to be able to program. But computer science will not be your main focus.

Hello Dimitri, thank you for the videos it's very helpful! We don't learn all this in masters. I have a question that might seem dumb, I just graduated and I will be starting as an intern at a big bank on credit risk, I wanted to know if there are topics/models that I should more focus on in order to maybe move later to a more buy side/investment type of firm, for instance you mentioned I believe time series for hft or market risk. My guess is I'm probably overthinking it and should just see and do what I like while build solid fundamentals, but I'm also curious to know which type of models/topics are used for which situation, I'm not sure I've seen you talk about that in another video. Thanks!
