I am very happy with the image quality of my copy of this lens. 18 months after I bought the lens, it stopped communicating with the camera body when in aperature priority mode. It was always shooting at F/16 (AF was not affected). So I switched over to shutter priority and used the aperature ring on the lens to set my F-stop. I continue to use the lens as much as when it was new.

@miam10744 жыл бұрын

@@kienyulim8651 I did not get it. Since I have relied too much on youtube reviews in the past and made purchases based on them, and then learned my lesson, I am much more cautious in making decisions based on these. Agreed. I owned a Viltrox 23mm F1.4 which I think is an awesome lens. A lots cheaper than fuji lenses. However for walkabout I still prefer my XF 18-55 lens which offer more versatility.
@leoshueh14 жыл бұрын
The image from Viltrox appears to be slightly bigger than that from the XF. Maybe the actual focal length of Viltrox is longer than 23mm, say 25mm or 26mm.
@Fuzzbrause4 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for the review. Actually I find the 23mm focal lenghth somewhat challenging in terms of the choices you have on the fuji system. Both the f1.4 as well as the f2 have there issues. Especially the minimum focal distance. If the 23 f1.4 would be on par with the 16mm f1.4 it would be a no brainer, even at that high price. The 23f2 is just too soft wide open. If I need 23mm I pick the 18-55 as well. The results are more than just fine and do not justify spending that much extra money on the available primes. Once my budget allows it I rather consider the x100v as my 23mm source.

Great video, just bought this lens. Just one bit I didn't understand - at around 5m50s you say there's slightly better bokeh than the 23mm 1.4, but you're reviewing the 23mm 1.4?
@yogawithandy4 жыл бұрын
A really thorough and enjoyable review, Omar. Thank you. However, I would like to point out that you maybe confusing some viewers on what bokeh is. You say that the bokeh on the kit lens is better because it focuses closer and therefore gives a more blurred background. Whilst it is a fact that the background is more blurred it is not a fact the bokeh is necessarily better. For example, if the 50-230mm f4.5-6.7 focuses closer at 56mm compared to the 56mm f1.2 there is no way that the bokeh on the 50-230mm would be better than the 56mm both shot at say f4.5. Furthermore, even at smaller apertures the 56mm would still have better bokeh than the 50-230mm shot @4.5. So, bokeh is not just about the amount of blur but more importantly the quality of the blur. I’m sure you get it but new to photography people may think that more blur = better bokeh.
@marike1100 Жыл бұрын
What’s not mentioned in this video is the Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 actually produces near record breaking MTF scores in the center, besting the Fujifilm 23mm f/1.4. The only thing is the corners are significantly softer than the Fujifilm 23mm. Not a fan of zooms, let alone variable aperture zooms like the 18-55, but that lens is twice the price of the Viltrox, and much slower. I prefer to use Fujifilm lenses if possible, unless there is a banger that’s not available or out of my budget.
