I admire Moira. She has the benefit of being the youngest child in a family with older siblings. As such, she’s had the opportunity to observe the outcome of lives others have chosen and seen their results. Some of them are happy to be sure; but she feels no maternal instinct or desire to marry for that reason, & has always felt she wanted and needed something different for her own happiness. She’s lucky she realizes that feeling different and misunderstood doesn’t mean she’s wrong or bad. Isn’t it possible that if a woman is smart & confident in herself; is capable of earning enough money to cover her financial needs, then traveling and experiencing places other than where she was born & raised may help her discover who she is and what she wants out of life, even if it’s not the norm? And shouldn’t those who love her, & have known her her whole life want her to pursue happiness? The long suffering Tom Miller seems to be the only one who understands she is different from most girls, needs what she’s craving, & is putting her happiness before his own.
