The title made it sound like some sort of guide but it turns out that you do, of course, have to take inventory of what you have first. Even better! This is going to be interesting.

Indian pipe!!!! Medicinal! Nervine. For pain. And dreams! Very very useful! Just make sure you leave some, they will not grow back if you pick them all.

Good episode. And good. App. Haha I'm not sure if you have ever burned sasafras but it crackles when burning and the branches smell and taste good. You don't swollow it just chew them like gum.

Thanks for a heads up on the app. I need to identify some trees on our property. So far I only have 3 maples and 2 I think are possibly too small to tap unfortunately.

Hi - we just recently bought a house last October in northern Michigan with 5 acres of trees as well - I have been doing research as to what I can grow in my "sunny patch" which only gets about 4-6 hours of sun. There are some veggies that will grow well...some things will grow GREEN but will not produce fruit. This may be your problem with all your fruit and berry bushes/trees -- if there is too much shade in those areas - the plant/tree will grow ok and be green but fruit will be scarce...not sure how to fix that problem - take down some more trees. I like your videos now that we are living in similar conditions - take care and God bless! Hope I am wrong about the sun problem--- hope you can organically fertilize to get fruit next year!

I've never eaten a crabapple...didn't know they were edible, but those and those acorns will attract deer. :) I'm sure you already know y'all can make flour with the acorns too.@SSLFamilyDad

Enjoying your videos. Wondering if you leave some large dead trees for homes of raccoons, owls 🦉 etc. Also as food source (bugs) for woodpeckers etc.

I think you can graft apple tree scions into your crabapple and you would have an apple tree right there at your house look into it.

Please leave some dead coniferous trees for the woodpeckers. I hope you will consider that as a viable option. Populations are falling for lack of habitat, one I love as much as 80%. Thank you for sharing your life and love of the Lord with us. That vulnerability is much appreciated. God bless you, your family, and your ministry.

Learn Your Land on here. That young man is a walking dictionary of edible and non edible plants and mushrooms. I still highly recommend to learn from a local that can show you in person on your local grounds.

Take the time to learn basic mushroom terminology, when in doubt throw it out, there are a few mushrooms out there that will kill you and even more that will make you wish you were dead. The main ones you want to watch out for are species in the genus of Aminita and Galerina. I live in MI and there are definitely Aminita's out right now. The app looks cool but you really should look the mushroom over as many look very similar especially from the top but their gill attachment and spore color could be totally different.
