Giant Sequoias were indeed native to the Great Basin >10 million years ago, before the Great Basin was really a basin, and probably survived the extensional collapse that turned highlands into the Great Basin too, especially if sequoias are thriving there today- probably only extirpated due to the onset of periodic ice ages ~2mya. Very cool to learn about this tree!

Loved this adventure Rudy, we are fortunate to live about three hours away from the Avenue of Giants Coastal Redwoods in Northern CA, and about two hours away from the inland Sequoia Redwoods down in Calaveras County, The inland redwoods frow fatter around and tall, the coastal grow extremely tall and big around. They are truly awesome to see, they're not just a tree. Plan a trip sometime, my faves are the coastal, plus the ocean is right there. Lots of scenery and fun things to do too.

Awesome video. Beautiful scenery. I love Pine Trees and took my youngest daughter to see the Sequoia's in Cali last summer. I agree with you 100% on the vandalism. It really makes me made when I see this. I remember the first time I look my youngest 2 kids to Estes Park Colorado one of the many places I had been as a kid. We were walking around Bear Lake and I was explaining to them how important it was to take care of these areas because if taken care of they will always be around for generations to come. I no sooner finished that conversation when we came across an older couple trying to take a selfie with the lake in the background. When I offered to take the picture for them they explained that they had been married for 30 years and were revisiting their honeymoon destination. As we walked off I was able to tell the kids, "See! If we take care of our land, you will be able to bring your kids and possibly grandkids to this same area". Keep up the great work! I hope you and Janelle bring many more of these adventures to share for us to enjoy. I am hoping that one day I will be able to bring my XJ to Utah and explore many of the wonderful places there to see.

That's pretty cool considering they can live for 3000years and grow to a height of 325feet . Although not a native species of Utah it is a native North American species they create beautiful forests and that is about old enough too reproduce. Thanks for sharing have a blessed week amen.
