Great video Jordy, fun to watch your videos - just subscribed. I was looking to buy a sounder for my new inflatable Pryml 330 Kayak - I am hoping Garmin Vivid 5cv would be a best bet and suitable for a kayak based on this video? Also unsure if this can be mounted without too much complications, mine being an inflatable one. Appreciate your inputs on this sounder.

Cheers mate! I'm not 100% sure on the difference between the Striker and Vivid to be honest, but what I can say is the Striker is fairly simplified and comes tuned well from the factory. I'm not sure how you would go about mounting it on an inflatable kayak, if they have the tracs in built then you might be able to get an all in 1 mount from Scottys that can hold both the transducer and the screen. Hope this helps!

Mate what a ripper video, thanks for all the info!! You’re right about the Lowrance it’s a bit harder to setup haha. Sort of wish I bought a Garmin instead 😂. Hoping to get out Campbells cove soon to have a fish!

Gr8 content Jordan. Do you find the Garmin clear view feature very useful to mark up fish? Weighing my options for a striker 4 or striker 4 cv vivid. Thanx in advance.

@sergioabdilla4577 Cheers Sergio! Personally I use the ClearVu function to try and identify structure in freshwater, I don't really use it in the salt. Sometimes in the fresh you'll see something on the normal sounder screen that may look like a school of fish but ClearVu will then show you if it's possibly something else like a submerged tree.

Gday Jordy, wow they were a couple of nice fish caught there and some great info about using the sounder, but in that first scene showwing the fish on the reef in wich direction would they have been in relation to your position and direction you were pointing, also how do you tell where would they be. Cheers mate keep the great vids coming, P.S. was that Eggcellent fishing I heard you talking to in the back ground, Give him big cheers for me his content is great as well.

G'day Daryl, thanks for the kind words and yes that was indeed Steve from Eggcellent fishing! He's been smashing the Snapper this year as well. As far as how to determine exactly where the fish are, that's not really something I worry about a hell of a lot. The transducer cone is not overly massive in such shallow water so it's only scanning a small area. If I am seeing Snapper frequently on the screen then I can safely assume they're well spread out through the area I'm in and by drifting back through that same rough area and flicking plastics around I am maximising my chances of hooking a fish. My next video might give you some further insight as well as I sent a GoPro down while fishing and captured schools of Snapper on it. Definitely worth a watch when it comes out!

Awesome show Jordan could you please tell me what jig head weight your using with the 7 inch plastic
@jordythebassist14 күн бұрын
@@jeffbaade8480 cheers mate, I use the Berkley Nitro Saltwater Pro range and usually 1/8oz or 1/6oz with a 3/0 or 4/0 hook. Main reason I use them is that their hooks are bloody strong and won't straighten or snap with a big fish on the other end

Hi there! Is your transducer over the side or underneath,( just bought a slayer propel 10) not sure where to mount it?
@jordythebassist13 күн бұрын
@ianrowan5156 hey mate, I have my transducer mounted on the side with some railblaza mounts. I prefer having it removable than hard mounted but that's just my own personal preference.
