I love using mini kegs but I hate the stock regulator/dispenser that they come with. I found a company called CanKeg that makes upgraded version that work amazing! They also make adpaters to switch to soda stream co2 tanks that save me so much money since I don't have to use those little cartridges.

👋 I wasn't able to properly carbonate mead in a small 1gal keg. Tried various methods/recommendations. It just foames while dispensing and gets completely still within seconds.

A review that challenged your stone brewing race in its honesty bravo sir. If i had of won I'd possible look at adding a floating dip tube and try combine to consume single vessel run. One question can the pressure release valve be changed in those systems or are they fixed

Great video! Have been thinking about getting a mini keg for a while so this is a good starting point. Something that could potentially be added in the future is a focus on double walled versions for longer temp regulation if you plan on taking the keg somewhere

Great job, but you need to go on eBay and get a Picnic Tap 2.1 from Trong. They are amazing for these types of kegs as it doesn't foam, and no hose is needed. Love my Picnic Taps 2.0/2.1 as I need to buy a few more personally.

Awesome review, I would add that the ball lock fittings are not that costly (search on Amazon) and the savings from not having to purchase the small CO2 tubes will pay off in a short time. A small CO2 set up is extremely affordable as well. Thank you for the excellent videos you put out.

Using c02 to carbonize your brew is better than using sugar? What's your opinion? Just curious what the pros and cons are between the two methods. You have to be careful of carbonic acid ruining your brew I know that can happen. Did you notice that your brew had an increase in acidic taste after using c02 to carbonate your brew used in this video? Thanks

I definitely prefer force carbonating over bottle carbonation! You have more control of what sugars and flavors you want. Force carbonation adds carbonic acid which is helpful to a brew!

what is that device that can sit on top of a keg that you mentioned? I have a little 64oz nitro coffee keg but it doesn't have a regulator so I think I could just get a regulator like you mentioned. It is all so confusing lol.

Great video! Makes me wish I had the yaebrew rather then the 2 gallon vevor. I ran into the same problems with cartridges so i converted it to use a 5lb Co2 bottle instead. But now I can try out some of yours and most’s hydromels. Looking forward to it

I know this is an old comment, but how did you convert it? I figure I might want to convert mine at some point.

@@alexandraengland3274 I used an adapter that went from 3/8-24 male to 1/4 npt female then used air hose line with a quick disconnect on it. on the co2 side I used a barb fitting on the regulator. Its not the correct way to do it but couldn't find another way either. One tip though if you need that adaptor check scuba gear places, it was the only place the adaptor could be found.

Yeah! You can go straight from the tap. I would say it's best to consume it within a few weeks though

I am going to try my hand at some sparkling cider/mead/wine and cannot decide between carbonating in this form or the priming sugar route. Can you tell me why you go this route? With this route can you bottle afterwards? If so would you carbonate in keg and then put in bottle and cap? Thank you for the reviews.

This route allows you to use whatever back sweetening sugar you want (assuming you have stabilized) and still get carbonation. You can definitely still bottle off a keg and you just simply pour it into whatever bottle you want from the keg!

The keg just comes with a lid. You would need to buy different attachments for whatever you're wanting to do! (picnic taps, C02 Cartridge attachments, etc.)
