Today my friend Candy gives us a review of the Danchel Outdoor Bell Tent. Candy tells us how this has held up for her for a few months! This tent seems to be able to withstand all of the desert wind and has held up well in rain as well!

I have the 4 meter (13 Ft) Bell in Oxford Canvas , two Stove holes, and removable floor, I absolutely agree a great tent from Danchel. I love the ability to heat with wood, Dry warm heat in the spring fall and winter when its cold and snow is falling just one thing every once in awhile get the roof cleared off and keep a good fire going to help keep the snow from getting to heavy.

I’ve been using the Kodiak 2 man 6x8.5 Flex Bow tent for about 2 years now out in California’s Mojave desert near Joshua Tree and Landers. Has stood up fine to several 50mph wind events. Is made of durable canvass with a bathtub bottom, two doors and a window on each side. Comes with first rate steel stakes that will hold it down for anything you can expect in the American southwest. Best tent I’ve used in the last 50 years, can get it on Amazon for $369.99 now.

Very impressed with Candy's perseverance, and for putting up and taking down that tent... definitely a two week stay commitment. The vertical space is amazing. That would be great perhaps in the mountains where she can get shade. Interested in her report for using it over the summer. Eventually putting it up and taking it down might get old and she will settle for summers in a clam screen tent by Kwikset or by Gazelle?

I think this was a very valuable video to give other options to people that are looking to avoid high rent and get out on the road. Of course if you have protection and you’re not afraid you could totally put an air mattress down or a cot and sleep in it every night unless the weather was terrible and then you could do what you suggested. Of course I’m different I would never be in my vehicle or outside of my vehicle without my mind changer on my side. And of course I’m legal.😎

$550 sounds like a lot, but we have gone through many, many tents over the years. Cheaper tents tend to only last for a few outings before the zipper or poles break. Thanks for this recommendation.

I have raynarrds and carpal tunnel...and 66. I use a Coleman 4 person dark room now. It's easier then the 6 man Cabellas to set up and strike camp. The Coleman is lower in height being a 4 person. The Coleman hasn't failed in high winds or wind or any combo. It's easy to set up and that overrode quality the Cabellas has. And room. Most stores like BPS or REI will let return tents if not happy. Maybe try the Coleman. Easy and less expensive. 135 on sale. The Cabellas is a geodesic design meaning it's built like an igloo in shape and shrugs off rain, snow and high winds. Hope my exp helps...holler if you have a question.

I see that Danchel makes a rain fly for their bell tents. I wonder if that would help keep the heat down or not. Either way, I think it would dramatically increase the life of the canvas by protecting it from rain/snow and UV radiation. Been looking at multiple canvas tent options, White Duck, Danchel and Wall Tent Store's Wilderness wall tent. I feel like this one is the best bang for the buck. Curious to know how it holds up over the years... I think I'll get a 2 year extended warranty through Amazon if I buy it.

I’ve seen collapsible cloth wagons that hold 150 pounds on Amazon made to pull camping gear but wheels have to be made for sand.I think I saw them recently for about $100. I bought a canvas 10x14 that I can hardly drag 3ft so that’s going to be my option. Plan on coming out next winter. It’s a slow process acquiring all the gear. I had to leave work 15 years ago. I’m 65 so I do receive social security.Married 44 years. Hubby’s not interested in traveling and he loves the snow?🤷‍♀️We own a home in Roslindale,Ma.have 2adult children and 4 grandsons and 2 small Yorkie’s. Anyway I can’t wait to get out there during the winters. My husband is worried but he likes to snowmobile and I enjoy warm weather and starry nights. Can’t wait to meet everyone out there! Thank you Bob for all the informative videos. You are truly a gift from God! Bless you all!🙏🙏🙏

So glad you found such a great tent with an attached floor. But why are you so attached to white cotton canvas tents? There’s nothing you can do once mildew sets in because it ruins the fabric. White cotton canvas is really hard to keep clean- especially with dogs! Canvas takes a long time to dry and it is really heavy when it’s wet! There have been some amazing improvements in tent material and engineering over the past 50 years since we were kids. How long does it take for one person to put up this tent and what’s the total weight/ price of it after you’ve upgraded to the heavier stakes and added a ground cloth under it? Have you tried putting this tent up by yourself yet, Bob? Candy is being very modest. She’s clearly in great physical shape for any age! ❤️

I have a good, reliable Toyota Yaris and I can't buy a minivan as much as I wish I could. I have always felt that a good tent would be my ticket to tolerating this. As a woman I would need to be camped with others close to me to feel safe sleeping in it, but that's fine.

I use a tent in combination with a 2002 Envoy. I've been out since Sept with a less expensive Coleman Dark Room 4 person. (Left my good geodesic tents home ...the desert floor EATS the floors. Use a ground clothe/footprint. I use two. Good presentation and info!! And I don't live in the Envoy or tent...I live outside. I aint a lab rat!! 😁.

It’s been my experience that no tent is much fun in high winds, not even the heavy canvas military ones we used in the army during Desert Storm. Anyone telling you otherwise is delusional or trying to sell you a tent.
