Relaxation is Yin and tension is Yang. Yin is the root of Yang. Relaxation is the root of tension. You can only experience being tense by having felt being relaxed. All techniques are a transition from Yin to Yang and back to Yin - from being relaxed to tense and back to relaxed. The more effectively you can transit from relaxed to tense to relaxed significnatly determines the amount of speed and power you can develop in the technique

Sir, a light blub went off. You nail it between the center and the psychological connection. Excellent insights. Please keep up the good work.

I love what he says about being relaxed even as you punch. For me, staying relaxed is very difficult. I can be relaxed when punching through the air. But put a heavy bag in front of me, and my mind no longer allows me to make the same "through" movement: my mind knows that my fist is about to hit a brick wall and I tense-up a little, withholding some of my energy in order to protect the hand I guess.

Dan Carrison it's funny you mention that cuz I have the same issue 33 years of martial arts experience any martial art I've taken throughout my life I always have the same issue unless I have very large gloves on it's very difficult to go and punch and sometimes even then do I not always hit every punch with ferocity and full power sometimes which makes it where I have that feeling where I miss bag work training like even in my mind today I feel like I want to go and train and hit the bag either at home or at the gym or I have the heavy bag versus my Bob at the garage where I live cuz of that feeling of maybe this is going to happen again I just feel like I need to motivate myself and push myself to hit the bag as often as possible so I can make that connection rather than constantly waiting and putting it off so every time I go to hit it I feel as if I'm going to make the connection of relaxing and removing the tension like what Sensei Hutton says and I can attribute that to the bag so yes when you mention this I was able to make a deep connection with it that's why I love to watch people like this instructor I think like he has to say transcends into any martial art lot of people learn the techniques but when they have to translate it onto a surface it's always a difficult situation that's why pro Fighters hit so hard they're constantly hitting something
