I tried this with Excel, using the same values. the SS for regression came out as 770.9297. Apparently, with Excel, you don't get the SS for the "model." Any way to use Excel to solve these Pearson problems?

The total variation is the sum of the explained and unexplained. You can add those up or just look at the bottom of your ANOVA table in the same column.

how do you do this on a TI-84?

This is also super late, but thanks! I get these requests for using the TI-84 occasionally, but I haven't used one in years, so I wouldn't know how to do much with it today. But if I get a lot more of these kind of requests, I may need to learn so I can start a whole new series using the TI-84 to solve HW problems.
