Thanks for showing us this. I've used this method a few times, but the trick with lowering the mask intensity is obviously quite useful. Now I need to go back and re-process all my images (again). Clear skies APA

That mask trick works well in many situations! Glad you found it helpful, and clear skies to you as well.

Great tutorial Chad, as always! IMHO, your channel is one of the best out there, so clear and helpful! Could you please show us how you deal with noise in (SHO) as you're shooting from Bortle 8/9. I shoot SHO from Bortle 9 as well and my total integration is always +25 hours but my image is much noiser than yours. So, I would love to see how you deal with that if you don't mind 😁
@ancientphotonsastrophotogr69992 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Bakry! I'm planning on doing a few videos on noise reduction as I use several different methods depending on the noise level and type. So, hopefully in the coming weeks you'll see a video on TGV Denoise (linear), MMT noise reduction (linear and non-linear), ACDNR, Topaz, and even ON1. Bortle 9 noise requires lots of tricks.

good stuff. does this eliminate the need for different exposure times to bring out the blown out center on Orion? or for galaxies as well? Im in the process of shooting m51!!
@ancientphotonsastrophotogr69992 жыл бұрын
As long as your sub-exposures are short enough to avoid blowing out the core(s), I personally don't see a reason to use different exposure times. Others might disagree. But for M42, I found 60 second exposures at f/4.4 was just right with my ASI2600MC. Of course, it also depends on the well depth of your camera. But yes - my short answer is just make sure your subs don't blow out those regions (resetting the histogram in the preview should reveal blow outs).

Thank you for a most helpful video. Where can I download the Game script as it is not in the latest version of Pixinsight?
@ancientphotonsastrophotogr69992 жыл бұрын
Thanks Allen. Here's a link to the GAME script. It's in a different language, but you can translate it in Chrome by right clicking the page and selecting "Translate to English". www.skypixels.at/pixinsight_scripts.html#game
