5 yrs down the road and still very helpful to newbies. Thank you for taking the time to give this information and save people like me some money! Saddles will bleed you dry with finding one that fits.

I signed in just to comment. I am a trail rider of many years. I watched all of your saddle fit videos. This one just blows my mind! I never knew of the pocket. Thanks for sharing.

Astonishingly easy, now that you've taught us the mechanics! You have it going ON, Becky! I've watched saddle fit videos that don't this type of information cuz its all about the pad that's being sold! Nice to know what to look for, and how to fix it without buying new equipment! Heading to the barn right now!

Can you make a video on treeless and flex tree saddles? I have a Black Forest western treeless that I've yet to ride in.
@BeckyAmio Жыл бұрын
Treeless and flex tree saddles are super controversial. I personally, only have one flex tree saddle that i stopped using over a decade ago. I would need more options in my arsenal to discuss all the reasons why they are not the best choice for our horses backs. The bottom line is, they are not supportive and if they flex to the horses back, they also flex to the weight of us in the saddle, promoting hollowed out, U-shaped horses that struggle to find collection to support themselves and their rider.

I have learned so much by watching your videos! Thank you for taking the time to explain about saddle fit, design & so much more! I am again looking for a saddle for my 15yr old gelding & me because our shapes have changed in the last few years😂 Now I know more of what to ask & look for so We can be comfortable!

The second saddle appears to have been intentionally set off center leaning to right on the first horse. Am I alone ?

If you have to shim it up to much do you worry about bridging? More videos like this please.
@BeckyAmio6 жыл бұрын
D. Riggs that’s a great question. Instead of bridging, what I tend to see happen is the back part of the saddle, the last few inches of the bars behind the cantle, starts to dig in to the loin on the horse. From there, any muscle the horse DID have to protect his spine atrophy’s rather quickly giving that “long back” appearance. Thanks for the comment. I plan on making more videos once it warms up a bit.

I never even knew a pocket was a thing in western saddles!
@BeckyAmio7 жыл бұрын
Its a thing in English saddles too. When I first saw it on an English saddle, I was completely blown away at the small change it made buy simply lifting the front of the saddle 1/2 inch!!

Amazing. Why does no one talk about this stuff? The rubber you used is that a piece of an old girth? Hey I purchased Broken Arrow Horse Camp in Custer SD. I would love for you to be our guest if you are ever in the Black Hills.

What parts of the saddle are level?
@BeckyAmio5 жыл бұрын
You are looking for it to be level at the lowest point of the seat
