Darren Bartley is hands down my favorite character designer, and he reminded me of why i switched from making pictures to designing, and it was after playing a game and unlocking concept art and thinking to myself 'this is what i want to do!'

32:00 This. This part right here. What he describes is the perfect way to put how I feel about all my creative endeavors. It's such a debilitating thing to feel and keeps me from doing so much, no matter how much I try to ignore that inner voice.

I've never heard an interview that I have resonated so much with.

I feel like Darren is my biggest influence at the moment... the way he treats his ideas and hates the rendering part of them I feel it. My technique often struggles to catch up with my ideas and that can sometimes feel fustrating. Often I just think about ideas that get "done" the moment I stop thinking about them, feeling satisfied like I spent entire weeks fleshing them out. Not being able to step away from work is a big thing for me too, and feeling proud, not so much of the work that gets complimented, but the ideas that get validated. Amazing interview as always!

This interview is pretty cool, but i have some feedback for you Aaron. I feel like all of your questions have a pattern: "Is it thing no.1 OR is it thing no.2?" - so for example, "How is your process, is it digital or do you prefer traditional". I fee like this way of questioning is giving away the answers a little bit. You can just say "Hey, tell us a bit about your process" and let the interviewee go wild. Hope you don't mind me saying this, it's just after a while, all i was hearing was this '1 or 2' pattern. Keep up the good work!
