I love how I stay waching your videos, just you and your eyes and hands. No viral editing style, no footages, no sound effects. Just showing the art of your storytelling.

@@rooomli haha love this comment. I move my hands around a lot to describe how I speak. I’ve always found it fascinating how people do this and honestly i never have any recollection of what i do and have never thought about certain hand movement for certain things. The beauty of the subconscious mind.

Currently finding my editing style for car content. I've spent hours watching videos, and recently started watching a cinematographer react to videos. Gave me more insight to the shots that I was looking at and gain a little better understanding (still a huge learning curve). Also, learned that even though it may not be the perfect, there is beauty in some shots that didn't go how you wanted it to. Thanks for the video! Algorithm worked in my favor.

Such a helpful video Ben. By watching this I almost feel a pressure has been lifted to not try and constantly compete with others in my field when it comes to the content I’m making. Taking 2 hours to edit a 30 seconds video just to maybe help retention by 5%. Back to the drawing board and back to making content that is more me.

Thanks for saying it! I hear this constantly from pro editors in Hollywood. Most creators don't really understand the craft on KZbin. And great suggestions. I hadn't heard of a couple of the channels you mentioned.

I agree with 99% of this video. I agree that the editing shouldn't be the focus of a video. Just like you said, the editing should always be complementary. Trying to make the most crazy editing is an infinite game that you can't win. That being said, the creators you mentioned are not just big because of their crazy editing, but more because of the content itself in my opinion. I think people underestimate how much time goes into the scriptwriting, research and packaging of a video from Ali Abdaal or Iman Gadzhi.

What’s the 1% you didn’t agree on? I already mentioned in the video your second point about the reasons for the bigger guys still doing well.

I like watching sleek videos. But, it is ridiculous when people use some special effect every single second of the video, it gets ridiculous. No wonder we have such short attention spans these days. Thanks for your advice.
