Movenpick Hotel Mactan Cebu | Best Luxury Resorts in the Philippines

The Movenpick Hotel (resort) in Mactan Cebu is one of the best luxury resorts in the Philippines. Rated as a 5 star resort the Movenpick Cebu has its own spa (DEL MAR) and one of the best dining and entertainment venues in Cebu the Ibiza Beach Club. Here you can sit outside by the beach and enjoy the amazing 15 course grill of seafood and meat. The Ibiza Beach Club also has live entertainment such as Latin dancing. The resort has one of the best beaches (although man made) in Mactan Island. It looks beautiful when the sun is shinning. It also has a swimming pool, gift shop and gym.
The Movenpick Cebu has 245 rooms, the best ones having views of the ocean. For best rates at the hotel I look at the hotel's own website as well as Trivago, TripAdvisor and Agoda. This is where you will find if the hotel has any promo rates.
The other restaurant SAILS mainly serves up buffet meals, you can book rooms that include a buffet breakfast included.

Yeah it's a nice place. My original plan was to check out a lot of the resorts on Mactan and do a "best of" video, but that's all on hold at the moment! Keep well. Cheers Rob

Thanks John. It is a bit pricey, but that's the norm in Mactan Island. One of the meats they grill is ostrich! I wanted to check out Dusit Thani in Mactan in March but that's been put on hold obviously . That's a new resort here that I'm really interested to check out. Hopefully in the next couple of Months. Still at this stage my favourite resort in Mactan is the Shangri La.

I can't remember (except it was expensive!). I did find online a couple of years ago to give you an idea "The all-you-can-eat grill is at Php 2,780 nett, and PHP3,446 nett with free flowing Manny O. wine. Price as of May 6, 2019

If I'm not mistaken, Movenpick was once the Hilton resort and Spa. It was once known as the pink hotel. I had been there when it was still Hilton and then also when it already became the Movenpick Hotel. I could say both were still pricey. Hehe! At least customer service was nice.

Yes it was. Movenpick bought it over. They shut it down for a bit while they revamped the place and added the Ibiza Club area. They really did improve the place since it was the Hilton. Yes with all the upmarket resorts in Mactan it is pricey!

Great video, especially considering how hard it would have been to film at night with the widely varying lighting where you were dining. Great shots of the dancers (again not easy to film) and Ibiza Club. Sadly due to COVID-19 the hotel shut (temporarily) on 31 August 2020 and probably would have reopened by now, given that from 10 February 2022 Philippines is again 'open' to international tourists BUT on 17 December 2021 Typhoon Rai (locally called 'Odette') struck, severely damaging teh Movenpick Hotel, Mactan Cebu. Rob, do you have an inkling when it may reopen? I tend not to stay at these Mactan resorts as I consider them somewhat overpriced (and prefer 'true' experiences on offshore islands) but when it reopens, there may be promotional rates that are a deep discount on the norm. Let's hope for the sake of jobless staff that it's soon.

Prices are shown in the video. Just an FYI though with typhoon Odette the Ibiza Club was guttered. The resort is temporarily closed until I think September of this year.

The problem is when I stayed there, you weren’t allowed to swim in the ocean after 6pm , and you are paying big bucks to stay there & it’s the same next door in the Sheraton, you’re travelling a long way from Australia for been told NO SWIMMING 🏊‍♀️ This is the whole point of going to a resort, in the Philippines to sit back and relax have a swim & NOT be told you can’t swim NO THANKS
