FM2185, one of the most remote public roads in the already remote region of West Texas. The only road passing through the Delaware mountains. It eventually splits into "Smileys road" and "Looney Spur road"

While watching, I immediately popped open Google Maps and looked. It's in Culberson County, which is about 1.53 Delawares in size...that is the state, not the mountains. The county seat, Van Horn along I-10, has 1941 of the county's 2188 people. Of the remaing, 237 people, about 60 live in Kent, which is at the other junction of I-10 and a state road in the county. That leaves 177 people spread out across 1.5 Delawares of area. Two counties to the east is Loving County, which, at 51 people, is the least populated county in the US, excluding territories. It may not have that many because they've had some voting irregularities with people voting there who don't live there. Who lives there and who doesn't is a touchy issue that's received national coverage. In summary, yes, you're right, that is a rather remote public road.

@@deepowls Yup, very low population density. Kent is a ghost town, so it's likely that the people living in Kent just live in nearby ranches. The state road you mention, 118, is a contender for one of the most beautiful drives in Texas.

@@slatecraft, an acquaintance slash friend-of-many-of-my-friends is one of the Presidio County Commissioners, but I've never been out there, myself. Just once during college along I-10 as a carpool passenger going to New Mexico for a wedding. I did just travel along it on Google Maps. It's not my thing, but it is more scenic than most of the Texas I have driven around...mostly around Houston or between Houston and one of San Antonio, Austin, or Texarkana...with a few trips to through Dallas or Beaumont and once to South Padre. I'll acknowledge that Google StreetView doesn't do a good job capturing the overwhelming expanse of it all.

"It's the place. It's the dark patch of water." Ah, yeah, that one. Who doesn't know that? (The actual name is Rose Atoll btw., it is on open street maps.)

5:55 hahaha I sent this trekker in US Geo back in November, after exploring the area from a RanOutOnARail video

When you get that random BIOT beach trekker in the world cup this will pay off 😤

Great video lol, i noticed a pattern. 90% of the rounds with birds are the dark patch of water :)

LOL - your fellow alum Mark Watney probably would have done better on this one. 😁 You mentioned "Stand by Me" but your west Texas guess at 3:18 was very near to Marfa, where they filmed "Giant" with James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson in 1956.

Honestly this map has a lot of the same filler despite the actual locations being different. Someone should create A Diverse Pain and Suffering with locations that have actual variety and are still hard af.

Out of curiosity, have you been able to practice and prepare much for regionals in sweden?

A little bit here and there, been very busy lately. But I'm gonna try to get a lot more prep in during these last 3 weeks

my guess as to why there's trekker coverage of so many weird small islands is because it's a way to get SOME record of the places existing before the ocean swallows them up in a couple decades :( (it would be amazing to have record of pretty much the whole world, really! to be able to explore *anywhere*! though man, ocean rounds would be a nightmare, even if they were sea floor or something)

This is maybe the third video of this map I watched and at 15:03 I could tell it's that island just because of the ground. Maybe it's the only place worldwide where the ground looks like that and it has coverage tho. It's also the only one I got right
