Fine Tuning a Reamer

Wow, I didnt know there was an adjustment screw on a scraper! I also see you have a flat there on the length of the reamer---whats that about--ease of rejecting chips?

Right - the chips need some place to go.

Can you describe/show how the recesses are cut in the body of the reamer where the cutting edges of the blade exit? Thanks!

I use either a chisel or a drawknife, beveling the cut away from the blade slightly.

I bought one from one of your peers, the front half can’t cut the end-grain part of the rotation after about a half inch. The entire thing starts to twist and it grabs too much end-grain. It feels like it’s going to break. I thought the blade was protruding to much so I backed off the set screw and cut another 3/32 off the back but even with the blade all the way back it starts to catch and twist. Got any ideas what my problem is?
