I saw Fingerprintz in Dunfermline, Scotland when they opened for the Skidz back in 1975. First time i can truly say that i was in awe of an opening band. I had their album "a very dab" almost immediately, and still have it to this day and it still plays great.

Very cool, I didn't know any live stuff or videos existed!! I was a Silencers fan but only discovered Fingerprintz in the late 90s.

Had the Very Dab 30-odd years ago, after seeing them support the Skids. Didn't realise how good they were or how good the "Scottish" vocals worked with this stuff. Really, really good. Very underrated.

Managed to see this group, way back when, at The Peppermint Lounge in nyc, outstanding live performance, The Silencers now feature Jimmy Oneil's daughter. Aura.

I play the Fingerprintz song "Beat Escape" all the time when i DJ. It's a KILLER dance tune and people always think it's a new song (Their sound on that song is kind of a mix between Scissor Sisters & Hot Chip of present time).

I got the name of my blog from this song. I even use a tiny rendering of the Distinguishing Marks album cover as my default journal icon. Ergo, one might extrapolate that this song means a tremendous lot to me. ♥ BTW, is this song about The Troubles? I could swear I heard it was.
@CartoonTrek11 жыл бұрын
Sure you're not thinking of the Pittsburgh Silencers? ("Peter Gunn Theme") They played the Decade alot. Anyway, both great bands!
@ladyi760914 жыл бұрын
@johnmckinlay67 Thank you! That's kinda what I figured but didn't want to assume. Anyway, I can see how you'd not know about this being a Fingerprintz song first and foremost as The Silencers appeared to be the far more popular Jimmy-and-Cha band, though I personally prefer the original recipe.
@christos197314 жыл бұрын
Liked the silencers' version a lot, until i discovered Jimme Oneill had this band earlier on. It sounds much better here, Jim Kerr just went on to destroy another classic. Just Laugh till your guts spill out listening to the Minds' version of Love will tear us apart...
