This was really interesting. Usually the videos jump from finished top to quilted quilt. I really enjoyed learning how the quilting machine gets set up and your/the machines calculations. One thing I have often wondered about, how do you know there will be enough thread on the spool, some of them are much less full than others when you are choosing which to use. Thank you.

Thanks for the behind-the-scenes look at this step of the process. When I drop off my quilt to the long armer, I never get to see how she loads it up. I enjoy seeing the math involved and getting a better understanding of some of those buttons on the computer screen. I've often wondered how you choose the size of the quilting pattern so that it's the right proportion for the quilt; that was interesting to see you do. Thanks to your videographer (son?) for giving us a close up of the machine at 17:15. I definitely would love a 30 minute recording of the machine doing the quilting to use as my white noise at bedtime!

You forgot to mention checking your pile of sheets from Goodwill to find one that works and is the right size....just for those, like me, who don't want to invest so much in yardage for backing. After decades of using sheets, I can say I've had no failures as long as I don't try to stretch the length by opening the hems and using the whole piece. Where the hems are folded, that fold is weak and will likely open up, and that means mending the back after a bit. I am a scrappy quilter, and those white flat sheets are great for the white accents in scrappy quilts, too. Thanks for your videos, I learn a lot!
