Hi again, Donnalouise. I got most of this one sorted and started to do some of it. The turquoise and purple balloons, the turquoise & purple building and some of the flags and sails - it's absolutely beautiful. I'm sitting on the sofa watching a video with a friend overseas (We start our DVDs at the same time and chat on skype about the shows) and working on those smaller puzzle sections. I use those A4 chipboards to do those. That box lid is so huge. I just take photos of the sections I want to work on and I can then enlarge those on my phone and work from my phone screen rather than that cumbersome box. I am really enjoying seeing this one come together so far.

I've also done that when I've taken photos on my tablet to then look at and zoom in. It's a bit difficult to tell but I held that big box lid in my hands for the longest time. So silly of me! I just love holding the box.

It should make you feel good to know that my time on this puzzle was 95.5 hrs! 😮 That was 2 years ago and it was my first puzzle over 2000 pieces. Also, I was working it on cardboards that fit about 1/4 of the puzzle at a time. Lots of room for improvement. My next big one is Fantastic Road by Ravensburger, 5000 pieces, that I’m excited for. I’ll do that one while my family is out of town so I can take over the kitchen table. Any suggestions for other brightly-colored, relatively easy puzzles in that same range? I’m baffled at how many large piece count puzzles are boring landscapes or very difficult as far as all one color. This Downtown puzzle was the first big one I ever saw that enticed me. I have considered the 24000 Life because it can be done in sections, but the amount of blue is intimidating!

Oh!! Fantastic Road by Ravensburger - I've seen that one and think it would be one that I would love building. I will be working on the 5,000 piece Bizarre Town is you like really busy images. I also have the 18,000 Ravensburger Magical Bookcase from the same artist. Check out the 18,000 piece from Clementoni called Visionaria - it comes in multiple bags and I just got that one as well. I am not one to do the large landscapes either and gave up on the 42,000 piece Educa Around the World. 💜🧩

Absolutely stunning! I would definitely frame it. I think it would look amazing on your wall behind you. I would have to smile every time I looked at it. I wouldn't be able to do a puzzle of this size because I don't have the space and sometimes my vision isn't the greatest. I use to do 2000 pieces, but not anymore. I found the 1000 piece from CraZart but the there were a lot of bad reviews because of it being holographic and hard to focus on. I found the Clementoni but the shipping was more then I think I want to spend. (I have to think that over.) Also thinking about getting Ye Old Shop. It's a great image.

great video as always, keep them coming ! I've been aware of repeat die cuts since 1996 when I found them due to false fits on 6,000 piece "Battle of Leponto" ... I've never thought of working sections over existing colorful areas. I will definitely switch to this method for the 2nd half of 9k "Astrology's stars, constellations, and dark pieces..... the art work on 2nd half has been assembled since October of last year and I cant make myself tackle the 2nd set of stars and dark . your method sure seems easier than playing 180 degrees XY battleship lol !

Definitely build on top of the completed section - it’s so helpful. I remember for one of my Travel Around Art sections, I grabbed one already done and slide it underneath what I was building as there was just so much beige to get through. The worse is when you get demotivated on a puzzle. Hopefully this will help and you’ll be able to complete the Astrology puzzle without too much trouble…and no !! 💜

I feel like if a puzzle is big enough to have repeated cuts within the same puzzle, then there should either be markings on the back (letters/numbers showing which quadrant) or in separate bags. Either way, you're not forced to use the help, but if you get stuck, you can double check. The puzzle is so pretty! I'd be making an appointment to get it framed, if it was mine! I think it'd look great on your wall. I'll have to keep an eye out for 1000 piece version if it ever shows up. Also, it took me a minute to remember that you are in your winter right now...the long sleeves threw me! It got up to 94F here today (if not a bit warmer) and I'm avoiding anything that involves heat today!
@fortheloveofpuzzles

I completely agree - if big enough to have repeat cut and potential for , then needs to be in bags or notation on back of pieces. I couldn't have written that better! I am leaning towards framing it - I just love it so much. And yes, winter here - it's a bit chilly and we got a bit of snow the other day. It never gets too cold or too hot - which I love. 💜

I have done a ton of puzzles with art by Ciro Marchetti and I have noticed every time a piece is licensed with a different company, there are minor changes like that boat. I just finished this 6K and I pointedly didn't watch past your first video so I could discover the puzzle myself. Sounds like we had very similar feelings. The puzzle was an absolute joy and went surprisingly quickly until the sky. Then it was hard, then miserable (with the perfect false fits!) Only when someone reminded me that you had determined the repeat did I realize that was the key. The repeat meant I had a template, and it went from miserable to tedious. And that meant it was doable and worth it. (So thank you!) I never glue my puzzles but also wondered about this one! It's so beautiful! But I needed my table back, so back in the box it went. What did you decide?

How interesting! He must change the images up for each commissioned license he gets. Makes it fun! I ended up taping the back of the puzzle into four sections and it is up on a wall at my jigsaw puzzle display. I had it for a short time up on my wall in my video background before moving it. It is so bright and colourful! I love seeing it! I show it in a few of the next videos if you happen to watch them.

I used to MDF board of thickness 4.5mm and their dimensions are each 900mm x 1200mm so when I put them side by side, I get 1800mm x 1200mm. You could probably use something thinner. I need something thicker and sturdy to film nice and flat. Have fun! I loved this puzzle and it looks great up on the wall.

How many hours did the repeating cut pattern save you with building the sky? 5 hours? 10 hours? Would you have enjoyed the puzzle more/less if you had been forced to build the sky "in the normal way", i.e. had there not been a repeat cut within the puzzle? Great puzzle! Enjoyable video! 🙂

I would say pretty close to 10 hours of saved time. It would have taken so long, if not more than 10 extra hours. And I think I would have been quite over it by the end. I would have loved the build up until that point, but then it would have started to feel like a chore. 💜

The cut pattern is exactly the same as the 5000 pcs from Ravensburger except for the row and column piece counts obviously. Building on top of another section is a really good idea. I'm going to use that technique when doing the Pirates Battle puzzle. I plan of taking it apart when complete (I always do) but I will separate each cut in its own bag to make it easier when I want to do it again. P.S. I had to change my handle from FellowHuman to get rid of the random numbers YT added at the end. I guess I wasn't the first one to think of this one 😔.
@fortheloveofpuzzles
@fortheloveofpuzzles Жыл бұрын
I did a double-take there for a moment wondering about your handle name. I an see how FellowHuman would be quite popular. And yes, I highly recommend building on top of the sections especially for that Pirate Battle puzzle - that will be tricky indeed. Good idea to break it down into smaller sections once complete. 💜

I don't think I could glue a puzzle that size but I don't think I could take it apart either! I'd probably just store it in sections. I honestly don't think I could ever do a puzzle that big. The largest I've ever done was 2000 and even though I felt like I was always moving and putting pieces in, it just seemed to take so long and I was struggling with keeping my attention on it. I think a puzzle that big would be too much for me. :(

Le couteau - ah oui! Je l'utilise pour marquer ma pièce de référence. Ça m'aide à guarder ma place quand j'utilise le motif de coupe répété. Dans une autre vidéo, j'ai utilisé un clé USB en forme de tortue! 💜🧩

It's such a beautiful puzzle. But 6000 pc is way too much for me. I can barely do a 500pc so my sweet spot is 300pc.

Are you able to find a lot of 300 piece puzzles? Harder to find here but 500 piece are more readily available. Everyone has their sweet spot. I think the max number of piece for me in one bag is 6,000 - and even at that, it's a lot. 💜

@@fortheloveofpuzzles yes, I'm in the US and have been able to find a lot of 300pc locally and on Amazon. But really cool and unique designs are not available in 300pc. I was lucky to find about ten 300pc puzzles with fantasy artwork. I still have two left to do. I'm kinda putting it off because they will be the last ones. Unless I'm able to find others.

Frame it, it's too beautiful not to. I hate doing the sky so I always do that first to get it out of the way.

I think in this case, the sky would have been so tricky to do first. I had to use the repeat cut pattern in order to get it done. But if it would have been in multiple bags, then I probably also would have done the sky sooner and not leave until the end. 💜

Oh definitely frame it! 🖼 You can then have the joy of looking at it every time you pass it. I wonder if you would not have had the false fits if you hadn't mixed all the bags? I have the 1000 piece version of this jigsaw and it does have the artist's name on the side of the box. 😃 Looking forward to finding the results of the BOTYP2. 🧩🧩❤

It only came in one bag - I didn't mix any. That's why I ask if it would have been better if it did come in multiple bags. I am not a bag mixer. I don't like We are working on formatting the #BOTYP results - posted soon! 💜
