Hey Chris, In your option and experience, I’m picking up my 2023 WRX in April . The dealer asked if I wanted the car ceramic coated prior to delivery for $300. Now questioning it , physically not there to watch them and taking there word . Would it be safe to drive it home , rinse off and do it when I get it home in garage , or trust them to do it ? Also you make working on your care super easy , which I want to do but never tuned a wrench .. thanks , Jerry

Hey Jerry. If you have the knowledge and patience to do it yourself, I’ll always recommend going that route. If you are a novice in the field and not interested in learning the process, then having someone else do it would be the route. However, dealers don’t properly correct the paint. They just wash it and slap a coating on just so they can charge a fee when selling the car. So any surface scratches or swirling in the paint will be transparent under the dealer installed coating.

I don’t tailgate haha. I don’t do a lot of highway driving either. But it happens. I have a few here and there. I just touch up when I see them.

I've got a 2020 sti that's magnetite gray, I always hand wash my car with two bucket method and always use new microfiber when waxing/detailing it. Even after all that I still seem to get swirls and scratches that I can see when the sun hits it just right do you think the sonax with a yellow rupes would get them light scratches out in one step?

If it’s light surface scratches, yes it’ll take them out. If you are getting swirling and scratches during your washes, you may need to reevaluate your process. Drying is a step most people don’t consider damaging, but it’s where a lot of it comes from.

I do daily drive it and don't have a garage so it does sit out in the driveway most of the day but I always do a foam bath before touching it with the mitt and the two bucket wash method and drying I usually blow most of the water off with my leaf blower and then spray it with some bead maker and the wooly drying towel. As much prevention as I do and it still gets those fine scratches that you only see in a certain angle in the sun

Probably dropping the bottle lol. I would say not doing even coats creating high or low spots. It’s pretty noticeable once it cures so doing even layers is important.
