I think the only reason I am where I am today, artistically, is because of these sketchbook tours :). I found your channel by accident, and I watched one of these tour videos. Before then, I'd had sketchbooks but I'd never committed. They were like the diaries I had as a kid: I'd get them for my birthday and just abandon them. But you inspired me to get a tiny sketchbook and some markers, and I went off to art camp. At camp I bought a real sketchbook and started it on June 28, 2019. I'm 137 pages in and I've improved so much it's actually insane. these videos make me so happy and inspired!

Good job! I'm really proud of you! When I was younger I was really committed as an artist because that's what I wanted to do. However, following that I was discouraged from that field from a couple of people I knew and after that never drew dedicatedly, because I knew it was only going to be a hobby. Well, now here I am in your situation, trying to complete a sketchbook because even though now I know I'm not going make a career out of it (I wanna do something else), I haven't felt whole and have basically lost my sense of identity. Thank God improvement also comes with age and not just practice. :)

Fill your pages with whatever you want, just fill them up as much as you can and outline your favorite ones in watercolor. Try limiting your color scheme for coloring one page, so like color all your sketches similarly on one page so they look cohesive. And as for improving, honestly just draw from life, practice, and take art class if you can lol.

I have a creative New Year’s thing too! Although I’m an editor now, I started writing poetry at about 12, and I always write a poem on the last day of the year. I leave the last line in my head and type it and date it right at midnight. In the past, various guys have been perturbed that I truly mean RIGHT at midnight. “Why not in five minutes? You’re my girlfriend, and I want to celebrate the New Year!” But, well, they knew about my quirk beforehand, and it’s not my fault if they thought I wasn’t being serious. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I like the idea of something being both at an end and beginning. My writing mentor always said the ‘tween times have special significance in our lives, and harnessing that special magic is never a bad idea. Since she passed, I’ve always dedicated those New Year poems to her. it’s also helpful to be prompted to write when I don’t have anything specific on my mind. it makes it easier to slip into other lives for poems more often. It’s a pracitce I highly recommend!

Ive had a lot of sketchbooks before, yet i never chronicled them. Since finding your channel I've grown so much and so has my art supply collection. Im starting now on sketchbook one with the wonderful illo brand. To be truthfull, ive had the sketchbook for awhile but I never used it as i was more geared toward the digital side of art. I bought myself an ipad even and left behind my big ole collection. Although recently I started getting back into it and now balance both. Its probably the most fun ive had with my art in a long time! So i want to thank you for that! Also for helping me when im down, bringing me and my sister closer, and deciding what major i wanted to choose for college. I start my art degree on this coming Tuesday, and i couldnt be more excited to learn and grow even more. Along with watching what joy youll bring to 2020!! Rin, you've helped me more than you know and i cant ever put how much that means to me into words. Men, it has been 6 months since I felt like drawing. I basically did my best piece, it's impressive, can't believe I did it, I really love it, and after that, I just don't feel like drawing??? I tried, did some sketches that I don't like, hate everything, I saw videos that didn't motivate me. After 6 months, this really inspired me. This drawings have so much character to it. I can see their feelings and personality. It's amazing. I feel like drawing! Thank you!

I have been bingewatching all your sketchbook videos and it inspired me to pick up my first sketchbook again! (From like ten years ago but I quit because I did not feel like I made any progress). Excited to start drawing and learning again after watching your videos!
