Our grandson was bullied and even physically assaulted in school, so for 7th grade, I homeschooled him. I was working from home. Hey, I even taught him to crochet. We homeschooled him for 7th grade, then for 8th grade there was Covid so he went to public school at home. Then he went to High School and life has been wonderful for him. He just finished his Junior year of High School. He has a great group of friends. He’s doing great academically. He’s been involved in various activities at school, and he is such a happy person. Bullies can destroy kids. He’s put in the work to be a healthy and happy person. No regrets here.

Home school will be great for little man to build his confidence. With not being torn down everyday with being bullied. And he can always go back for his senior year. What children and some adults don't understand is that every human being is unique and offers a different prospective to this world and being different is normal.

My daughter was told those same exact words only the principal told her she was going to amount to nothing, be pregnant at 16 and live off of welfare and it was said in my face at a meeting. I got banned from the school that day…… that motivated her to prove them all wrong. Sadly her graduation happened in 2020 during Covid but she did give a few words to all the staff members during her zoom graduation when she received three awards. Let’s just say it was colorful and the muted her lol. She is now a state licensed esthetician who will be starting nursing school this fall. She’s also on the spectrum with other special abilities that give her charm. So Jen you’ve done fantastic and little man will blossom with this new schooling adventure. You’ve got this

Hey Jen, homeschool will benefit both Lucas and you and it will draw you closer together ❣️ he will teach you about analytical thinking and you will teach him how to listen and understand emotions. Plus being home will teach him life skills like fixing things and being more creative plus also monitor his time playing video games and the internet, both designed to suck our children into unwholesome behavior. It’s a win-win ❣️ kudos 🤩

LOL That was fun! Your spinning is so pretty! The thick and thin spinning hanks of yarn sell for more money then the regular even hanks sometimes. It really creates beautiful projects. I hope you are having a wonderful journey and that little man is having fun. Hope Mr Cinnamon doesn't work too hard so he can enjoy spending time with you two. I hope that Juju and Pumpkin Spice (I can't spell her given name lol) are enjoying having the house to themselves. Much love and many prayers, see you next time!

Welcome to the family! I have been homeschooling my ADD daughter for six years. She is going into seventh grade 2 things. I will tell you upfront find a homeschool co-op near you. It’s typically four hours a week hours teaches two lessons that you probably will not have to do during your homeschool day. Also, with ADD, the classes need to be short, no more than 30 minutes at a time and then let him have a break. You’ll be surprised at the amount of time you have! Let me know if you have any questions.❤️❤️❤️

But it might be different for you.❤you can also join a homeschool support group in your area and meet up and do things together to get some social interaction. My mom thought about home schooling me and my middle sister but we are both ADD and can’t spell, suck at grammar, and suck at math. She knew she would lose her mind with us. More power to those who do it. My mom also would crochet while me and my sister would talk her ear off about things she did not like.

You are such an amazing person and to hear what you went through as a child is terrible. I hated school and our highschool too many clicks and snobs. I failed my last year there. I got married young big mistake. After a divorce got my GED, studied and had to travel miles for a class for it and it was a struggle. Then went to business school for secretary, big mistake. I hated it, but I was on the deans list through it. I proved I was not dumb. You home schooling your son will be the best for him. I hope he listens to you and all works out. Prayers for you sweet lady. You got this. Its sad how all the teachers in school talked to you and said terrible things to you.

I quit School at 16 becaus😮e of fighting all the time. I actually signed up for college and tested really high. They sent me to get my G. E. D. before I could start the classes and I tested really high on the G.E.D except in math. Which I tested average so not bad. I started college in a lot of higher level classes. My mother was extremely negative about me. She said I probably cheated on the tests because I was not that smart. So l totally understand the struggle.

Jenn, I would bet you could have been diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder! Look it up! No kidding!! Telling you you couldn’t was motivating you more than actually “encouraging” you! I knew several kids that were homeschooled through middle school and high school. They went to “regular school” for art, music, p.e., auto mechanics, etc. Lots of ways to structure his learning experience to his interests and direction.

I was a sickly homeschool child for years. We lived overseas most of my life and my mother homeschooled me. She is brilliant and so is my father. I struggled with “ curriculum” but I thrived in certain subjects. Turns out I had eye issues and learned differently than both my parents. I am also an artsy/ literature/ theatre person and that’s how my brain works. So my mother (God bless her) learned HOW to teach me and when I went to “regular” private school and collage later in my life I did really well because I now knew HOW to learn from whatever they were teaching. My point is, I’m super happy that you are doing this for your son because I feel this will be life changing for him later on. You’re a great mother!

Your son is just like my 7 year old grandson.. everything you talk about we are going through. KZbin fixing things, technology.. non stop hyper talking, goes full blown on 5 hours of sleep. I home schooled him for kindergarten, and I am doing it again next year. I have him full time. My ADD over active mind is on overload. The program we are doing is a public school with online classes, and curriculum which isn't exactly what I wanted but we are doing it for now until we move. I am in Cleveland Ohio, a few years older than you, and the stories you tell about Detroit, I can relate too. Scary that we are living parallel lives.

Your son will absolutely learn to love being homeschooled because of the freedom. You are going to be a great teacher for him. I do think we could have a fun game every time you look for your glasses or something else. Bentley could also be another fun game. Maybe bingo game or something fun. Your background learning experiences will benefit your son so much. Remember it isn’t about drills and testing it is about learning the fundamentals and understanding it.

Homeschooling can be very liberating for the whole family. The simple fact is is that not all kids are wired for sitting through a day in a brick and mortar building. I pulled our youngest out of PS in 7th grade. Not bragging, stating that truth, my kids was more mature and smarter than most of the kids his age, and Hal the teachers. He's an old soul, and has always clicked better with the elder generations VS people his own age. He did excellent, I had a great time. Win-win!
