I was pretty happy with the result. Even though there was runout in the spindle it milled a 3/16" slot in nylon, straight and accurate.

Cool idea for turning a drill press into a light duty mill! I would anchor that thing good though, looks like its wobbling a bit.

Yeah I been meaning to pick up some concrete anchors. I'll probably need to cap the concrete also it is 3/4 inch out of flat. I'll get it done one day.

With those drill vises you'll never get work to sit in them square. The movable jaw always lifts up. You can mitigate that somewhat with a round on the jaw. Just a cylinder you squeeze against the work. But eventually it'll drive you to get a real milling vise. Because not being able to square anything up is pretty annoying.

You are so right about that. It is not a case of it "will" drive me crazy, it already "has" driven me crazy. Those things are the biggest pieces of junk I've ever seen. Most really important jobs I clamp straight to the table or fixture if possible. "Mighty clamps" are my new favorite thing, I haven't bought any for the home shop yet but I've used them at work, wonderful product.

@@pappys-tinkering I used drill press vises on my mill for too long. Often it didn't matter. But eventually I wanted to make square parts. The vise I have now is nothing great but it's a big improvement. It's actually a milling vise. Just not a good name brand one. More like no name brand. For me it's good enough.
