Antlers get shed; horns are permanent growths. Nice build.

As always, beautiful craftsmanship Eric! After every video I'm curving for more content from you:) I can tell, that you have not thought about grinding the ''inside'' of the scales to loose some thickness in order to keep texture from outside. I call it brainfart:) Have them to offten myself:) unless it was planned :))) but we learn with every project.

Bone and horn usually takes a fair bit of fiddling to knock out warps and other dimensional oddities you get with natural products. Otherwise the end result is good looking Bet you can still taste and smell it for about the next month!

Yipp..a friend & jr colleauge of mine had a 25 L Sealed Buckett full of Kudu, Sable & Impala Horn pieces and sadly lost them to weasels by not cleaning and fumigating them before storage..❗😢 I've worked with Giraffe Bone before & carved out 3 dimensionally as Ivory..what a stench..subsaquantly seen that Boiling etc., prior to use is the best option..any comments.. will be greatly appreciated..⁉️🤔🙇♂️

@@bernardhill1622 It should stabilise the same as timber with Cactus Juice and left in a vacuum for a while. Being its very dense it might take a few days in the pot until its gotten into all the porous parts, I know a lot of the heavier timbers tend to take 3days to a week before they're done. Should also help with making them less likely to shift around under humidity, I'd leave off any dimension/flattening due to the later application of cooking them on a low heat in an oven. Heat will warp bone, horn and antler quite well. Might be something to look into

Looks great man! I think if you were gonna keep the red you would have had to go all in with it and have as much if the red as possible.

Antlers are bone/ calcium. Horns are normally hair. Horns are pretty much like your fingernails. Antlers normally get shed wear horns normally stay and discontinue to grow.

Horns are like fingernails, whereas antlers are like bones. That's a very generic description of the difference, but is more in line with knowledge that's actually needed for building things with them.
