Edward was also really presumptuous at first that she would want it terminated, but when she said no he didn't force her. He just sorta sat there sad in the corner while Bella turned into a skeleton and Rosalie helped her. And he and Carlisle planned a (stupid) way to save her when the child was born anyways. That sequence is still horrifying but at least Bella made that choice. Unlike everything Edward did in Eclipse. Unfortunately it all gets to burn in the garbage fire because we still have to contend with Jacob imprinting on a fetus. Ugh....

My brain decided to write so I write. A far too familiar shout echoed down the streets, the windows rattling in thier frames and it tore through the city. A sudden crash of glass sounded through a few houses, along with multiple sighs and grumbles about getting a broom again. At least the broom business had been booming lately, plus plastic dishes. At this point, everyone knows the cause of it, no one tells the children- thank the lord above- and now there's a story going around that "the local banshee has come to town again and breaks any glass in sight". Many children have taken to hiding thier piggybanks, many have not escaped. Many tears have been shed, both adults and kids. A few urns have even been broken- How any of their houses have survived is nothing short of a miracle. Everyone counts thier blessings when only a random glass breaks instead of a window. I still laugh at the time old Mrs. Hamlet's window shattered out into the street, many had to hold her back from storming the castle. Never underestimate an elderly woman on a mission. I sigh, taking in the sight of my morning coffee spilling out from the shattered remains of my old mug. I should've just drank from the pot.

@cosetteb.49402 жыл бұрын
@@asfodelos3225 I meant that as a joke but my point is both authors consciously wrote these extremely problematic scenes and portrayed them in a positive and even ""romantic"" light when they're actually just extremely disrespectful, inconsiderate to their audience, and questionable at BEST. (especially for the reason you already mentioned with the priestesses. in the fault in our stars' case, it's the fact that the narrative tries to romanticize the holocaust and draws a parallel between the characters who are privileged to not live in Nazi Germany, and a girl who was murdered by it, at what is the closest equivalent to her grave, then has the rest of the characters CLAP AND ENCOURAGE THIS for god's sake.) Though Sarah J Maas is WAY more explicit and callous considering that these are LITERAL SEXUAL ASSAULT SURVIVORS (and then tries to act like an ally 😒), I honestly think they're still comparable scenes due to the SEVERE lack of awareness on the authors' parts, and for how demeaning, insulting, and gross this is to real life survivors of the holocaust and sexual assault

They need to find themselves and their happiness. This book (and it's fandom that shits on Elain for doing what any survivor needs to) is outrageous. I just want to exist. And I want a break. And to not do anything. And not see the only representation of what an ideal recovery looks like be consistently made fun of and called useless. For any other survivors, not being able to do anything does not devalue you. You have worth in living through it and not giving up. The end.

the way that sjm used these women’s trauma as their “phoenix moment” in the last 100 pages to show how they became stronger bc of it is so…… imagine using oppression as a mere plot device and calling it empowerment. rape and abuse and everything women experience rarely make them stronger and ya authors need to stop using very real problems as ways to “easily” traumatize their female characters into character development. not to mention sexism is the only form of oppression sjm could even fathom trying to write meaningful messages abt and failing to as a white woman writing like only white casts

Thank you for writing this comment. I completely agree with your point. Yes. Seriously this. It reminds me of how a very common trope in fanfic I read resorts to abusive relationships to separate the two main love interests. I see it over and over again that the woman gets with the “wrong” man in order to drive a walll between the love interests and then it seems like the only way to convince the woman she was meant to be with the love interest is if the other man is abusive??? It's just really frustrating, that in the end, Nesta just became a slightly different version of Feyre... And even Elain became more "blueprinted" in this book. Like especially Nestla lost literally all of her characteristics - beeing the straighforward, honest, brutal, pride and sassy one. She just turned into the same main girl in all of SJM's books - humble, boring, with ONE hobby (with aelin it was music, feyre has painting, elain her garden and nesta reading), she learned combat and got herself a mate whom she can call territorial bastard. That's it.
@tiryaclearsong4212 жыл бұрын
That's extremely common with mediocre romance authors. It's really rare to find a few that can create characters that sound real and unique while giving a logical inside perspective to their previous behavior throughout a series. SJM is just over-writing cheap harlequin romance series. Honestly she's making a ton of money though so I gotta respect that. I wish competent fantasy romance authors would write longer fantasy novels instead of arbitrarily sticking to 80,000 - 100,000 word limits to pump out more novels.

Okay, for REAL... When we were going over the backstories of the women who have been sexually assaulted. They were talking about being held down by one of Hybern's commanders (I don't want to add more triggering details). And all I can think about is, hmmm. I wonder how they would feel if they knew that their HIGH LORD literally had his wife, THEIR HIGH LADY, held down on a table so she could be stripped naked, painted... that he made her parade around basically naked and then drugged her and made her dance for him and groped her waist and hips lol. Among many other things... Let's be honest, everyone in the whole faerie world probably knows this went down because I'm sure it was "hot goss" after the whole Amarantha thing. I mean he paraded her naked in front of every royal court in existence. If I were those poor women, I would be like, "Dang. If that's how our High Lord treats his own wife, who is the highest ranking woman in our entire country, there is nooo hope for us in this cruel, cruel world." We stan Rhysand the feminist king--such an inspiration to his people lol 👏😍 Also, since I'm already on a rant... I still vividly remember Rhysand telling Feyre to leave Tamlin because Tamlin just wants to just make her start "popping out babies" and trap her in some married life. Let's ignore the fact that he let Feyre marry or ("mate") him like half a book later (what was that, like a few months?) Let's then compare that moment to the sentence about his "smug male pride" as he shows off her pregnancy to the court, knowing it's going to kill her. BRO 😒🤔 The side eye is real lol. At least Feyre's new toxic partner is a better manipulator?

During the times where she CLEARLY needs help and support in recovering, the elitist Inner Court decided to verbally abuse her and tell her how much of a piece of shit she is being (which is true, but the way they were treating her does NOT help). When Feyre was suffering after her experiences with Amarantha and Tamlin, she was also prone to violent outbursts and waves of depression, but the way the Inner Court treated her was WAY more supportive. Given that they ended that other book talking about wanting to have kids and it's implied that they made that whole die together oath AFTER DECIDING TO TRY AND GET PREGNANT.... what was the reason??? they really said "if we by some bajillionth of a chance have a child, they either have a stable home life or they're an orphan. there's no in-between. Take it or leave it. WHAT.

If memory serves me right, that whole "if Rhysand dies Feyre dies" thing is literally this magic oath thing they take at the end of I think ACOWAR - so like even if Feyre or Rhysand didn't wanna kill themselves when the other died, they'd still die automatically because their lives are magically bonded together now. which is so stupid the first time it happened and now hearing about it again is shjdhdjs

@@b00ksh3 unfortunately it wouldnt be the first time 😔😔 sarah janet steals stuff from her other books all the time idk how her own fanbase isn't calling her out on it. there's a lot that's been stolen, i don't even remember most, but the one thing i do remember (because it's funny) was the time she used "velvet-wrapped steel" to describe rhysand's tone of voice, but then goes on to use that same exact "velvet-wrapped steel" phrase to describe rowan's dick in throne of glass LMAO

@@b00ksh3 well it actually is a VERY common trope called smth like "swan love", "mandarin duck love" and many other names after those birds who are monogamous. I mean if sjm plagiarized something by adding this twist, it was like Romeo and Juliett or even older fiction.
@b00ksh32 жыл бұрын
@@taraktach7152 it's not actual plagiarism - i was just joking. i meant she was taking a trope she'd incorporated in her books and reusing it. which is pretty lazy.

I hate Sarah’s smut scenes. She’s so overly graphical in such a bad way, it’s honestly comical. Also why won’t she ever write anything other than standard sex, at least tie one of them up, or let one of them have a pain kink. Spice it up Sarah!!

One thing I don't understand is that at the end of ACOWAR Feyre forgives Tamlin and says she wants him to be happy and they part not as enemies. But they continue to shit on him while he's always kicked down in ACOSF, like leave him alone already.

And on top of that Tamlin literally tells Feyre "to become happy with Rhysand" after they resurrect him, which kinda means that he got over their relationship and found closure. However, Sarah j. Maas completely abandoned that conclusion afterwards and continued to make Tamlin the salty ticking timebomb ex. The inconsistency in this series really amazes me.
