I usually do a neutral or light fabric on the back!

I'd like to suggest you place your unhooped work face down to gently press the cloth and not the embroidery work. You created lots of puckers ironing on top. The hen on the right still had cloth puckers in the finished work. I'd try to use a very tiny heated wand iron between embroidery. And only on wrong side of work. Also, for an artist, or for future relatives, why not make a label or tag with date, your name or tribute etc on back?

I will try that next time, thanks so much for the suggestion! Also, labels and tags are such a nice touch, I’ve been meaning to design one.
