Any chance you would do a deeper dive on finishing for printing? And maybe your process for assembling, proofing, and printing your photos books?

I really appreciate your subtle approach to finishing the portrait rather than having the edit being the first thing noticed. Thanks for sharing this approach and specific methods you use to get the look you like. Looking forward to the black & white portrait video!

Thank you, Sean. I really appreciate that you take the opportunity to teach as you go, providing just enough explanation, rather than only demonstrating the actions in Photoshop.

Fantastic video. I have lived in Lightroom and never ventured in Paintshop except when I needed some tricky cloning. But this has convinced me that I need to put in the time and effort to get the reward of a set of far more powerful tools and flexibility in using them. Thanks for making videos like this, they really do help.

What fantastic information and guides. I have been doing this for a while with portaits but never so detailed as you. These results are subtle but great! Thanks Sean

Hey Sean - that really is subtle but effective. The last before and after makes it so evident. Keen on knowing any change in Color grading and finishing approach you have evolved into with your video editing. ESP after moving to resolve.

Jesus. That’s a really complicated way to do something so simple! Old School. I like it! 😀 Pro Tip: Watching it in 2x helps.

I love this. I really appreciate you showing work on someone with a darker complexion as well, it can be hard to find examples with subjects who have darker skin tones.

Thanks man! I was a bit overwhelmed near the end but the first 2 layers really helped me. After that I missed the knowledge to put the new knowledge it in perspective. But I appreciate being shown the space like this so I could explore it further myself. I came in clean without much prior knowledge and with basic photoshop skills. Thank you for your generous sharing of knowledge and your way of articulating things. Also I entered your code at at least one squarespace site I built :-)

Thank you so much for this! Its been a great series and this one in particular is going to be very useful! I have a few images that I just couldn't take to the next level - I was frustrated and felt like I had hit a wall. Oh and you convinced me to do my website with Squarespace - really happy with the result!

If you want a good layer mask for the sharpening layer maybe you can do this instead of painting? 1. In the Channels Pallette chose the channel with the best contrast 2. In Image > Calculations dialogue make sure that both Source 1 & 2 reads: Layer = Background Channel = Green Blending Mode = Overlay Select Result (at bottom of dialogue box) to “Build Selection” Just a Tip! Super good video! 👍👌

Thanks a lot for the entire series - it's been a great guide and a good refresher. What do you see as an advantage over unsharp-mask sharpening vs for example high-pass filter? The unsharp mask seems much more subtle to me, so I was wondering if that's something you've been going for?

I'm not sure what to think about image manipulation. I definitely don't do it in my street photography, as I want to have my photos as genuine as possible. They may not look as prettty and have a wow factor as others, but at least they are what I saw in real life.

So if I’m editing about 1200 photos in a typical month and spending 10 minutes to edit each photo, that’s 200 hours of editing……..No thanks.

Sean: I've received the same message from you and The Art of Photography saying I should text you right away on telegram because you have something for me. Both are the same word for word, so that sounds like a scam of some sort. I though you should know if it wasn't from you.

@@seantuck It says it's coming from your site, which is interesting. Maybe you got hacked somehow, or it's a mirror page of some kind. I'm afraid if I report it I'll cause you trouble. Better that you pass my messages along to KZbin.
