This is a GREAT drill. Most drills are horrible except for in very early stages of a team. If you are coaching a team that is playing other teams, you usually have two weeks to get them game ready. The drills that have little relevance to the game, only to a skill, are a waste of time. This drill gets them game ready. I do a similar drill, but the shooting player takes a shot after dribbling a bit, then runs around a pole and attempts an incoming center pass. The players all rotate. There are six players on the field including one defender, so they aren't waiting in line at all once things get rolling.

Thank you for your feedback! You make an excellent point about the importance of game-relevant drills, especially when time is limited to prepare a team for competitive matches.

Hey I'm a left winger and I've been trying to play inverted but I'm having a hard time getting shots into goal or on target. What would you suggest I do to score more goals and be more of a threat? (PS. I usually practice alone so I'd prefer some solo drills but I can arrange some friends if needed)

@@Zero-uc1so Hey, great question! Playing as an inverted winger can be super effective, but it requires a lot of practice to perfect your cutting inside and shooting techniques. Here are a few tips: 1. Work on your finishing: Set up cones or markers as defenders and practice cutting inside from the wing to curl shots toward the far post. Focus on accuracy over power. 2. Dribble and decision-making: Use a wall to play quick one-twos before cutting inside to simulate receiving a pass under pressure. This will improve your first touch and timing. 3. Positioning and scanning: Spend time analyzing your positioning in games. Always check your body angle and the space ahead to anticipate your next move. If you can get a friend to help, set up small defensive scenarios where they try to block your shot. It’ll make your practice more game-realistic! Let me know how it goes, and feel free to ask if you need more ideas!
