Dunno if anyone's said it, but the perpetual testing initiative was a trailer for USER CREATED test chambers. Workshop is full of custom tests, some using the workshop tools, others using source dev tools like hammer. There is also multiverse lore for the perpetual testing initiative. Someone's uploaded the entire dialogue on to youtube in order if you'd prefer to react to/listen to that on your own time.

If you want more Portal there are great mods like "Portal Stories Mel" and "Aperture Tag" or SFM animations, most noably by Harry101UK "Meet the cores", built and expanded on the variety of cores you meet at the end of Portal 2
the reason you struggled to keep going higher on the first puzzle with the white gel (1:15:00) is because you weren't launching vertically, you were launching up so gravity was killing your momentum after you reached an equilibrium height, no invisible force needed, looks like the equilibrium height was luckily just high enough

50:55 - I'm not sure if you picked up the lore of the test subjects 1050s section - Initially it was Astronaut, Olympians etc, and they had limo ride to the facility, and presumably paid very well. 1970s section - In the second section, Cave mentions he is bankrupt after the senate hearing on missing astronauts. He also mentions finding test subjects sleeping on park benches, and their bindles. ( the bag or sack stereotypically used by hobos ) - Their test subjects to which they are paying the $60 'windfall' are homeless people. - Even a cheap yacht in 1970s would be $10,000 (19070s money) so the poster was an exaggeration to make the homeless people think it was an extravagant amount of money. 1980s section - Mandatory testing for employees, meaning all employees had to serve as test subjects. AND apparently also their families, as Chell was someone's daughter (remember 'take your daughter to work day' and the potato science experiment.)
@tianna30247 ай бұрын
this!!! I was wondering whether he got this or not considering he kept talking about how much money 60$ was back then. It wasn't! The point was that it wasn't! You can also hear Cave Johnson's disdain for having to "use" homeless people in the experiments instead of "working" with the best society has to offer. Also the whole "my boss is a robot" bit is because he was literally running out of employees (because of experiments AND because he can't afford to pay them anymore - he's bankrupt) and robots don't have a salary

I love that Wheatley's dialogue is already amazing but the performance of the Voice Actor just made it sooo much better because he added his own flair in the dialogue such as using a lot of filler words or stammering on certain words or changing the way some lines are said. He didn't just stick to the script which made Wheatley really feel like he own person. Awesome playthrough btw. Glad you actually paid attention to the dialogue and story. Many people just clear puzzles and don't really care about anything else.

You should play Portal: Still Alive at some point. It's a HUGE part of Portal's history and may be the reason to why Portal 2 not only exists, but is also such a banger. It's a remake (by one of the developers of TFV) of The Flash Version - a fan-made Portal mod that was released after Portal's trailer and before the game's release. And remember: Mike Morasky should never be forgotten. P. S. the video on this one better be over half an hour.

They DIDN'T use the gels, because you were the one who re-activated the pumps. All that remained was in the first test chambers. Glados couldn't activate the pumps, because that instalation was pre-glados, and it relied on people, not some AI.

the worst part about watching these vods is looking at the chat constantly telling Kel that he's "cheesing" and to "do it correctly". mf if u wanna do it "correctly" go play the game yourself! I actually found some of the solutions that Kelski came up with to be fascinating, and to see him question them because of chat telling him that "it's not the right way to do it" was honestly disheartening. if you get the result you want, it's always going to be the right way, no matter how you get there. that's literally what Portal is about, finding clever solutions to the puzzles thrown your way.
