I agree with you on A Curse for True Love. I was really missing Jacks in this one!! It was giving Twilight: New Moon with how Edward leaves Bella. And there were definitely missed opportunities with some elements, especially the letter she wrote to herself about Jacks. Could've been a great way to introduce some angst, drive a wedge between them, and force Jacks to do some chasing.

I agree with so many of your thoughts on A Curse For True Love! Plus, many times while reading I had to stop and think "wait, this IS the final book, right?" because it felt like a book in the middle of a series instead of the ending. I've changed my rating like 3 times because I couldn't stop thinking about it. It was a good reading, but... I'm still conflicted lol.

I was so heartbroken throughout Greenbone saga but I just appreciate the care Fonda Lee put into the characters: good AND bad. Definitely needs a re-read because although I wanted a happier ending I really wouldn’t have changed anything 😭

(SPOILERS) Adding onto your ACFTL review; I agree! I expected more POVs from Jacks; I scanned the book to see how many times he appeared and when I saw he didn't appear as much... it literally discouraged me to finish the book in one go LOL. At times, the plot felt underwhelming... or some cases felt quite obvious. There would be certain scenes didn't feel so engaging to read about. And.. the way Eva regained her memories, I felt as if there could have been much more to it, though I guess the letters to herself had to had make an entry somehow. I thought her and Jacks would go through some epic, true fantasy-like event that got her memories back! D; I do wish she got her memories back a bit earlier in the book, because it felt as if the book had sm more potential to include scenes that were adventurous as books 1 and 2! :') ALSO STOP I FORGOT ABOUT LUC, LUKE HOWEVER U SPELL IT

Omg I too also tear up when I’m reading sometimes, for literally no reason! Sometimes it’s just like “oh wow I love these characters / world SO much” and if something good happens it’s like I’m overcome with emotion and I get teary eyed lol

I love The Great British Baking Show too! All for the reasons you mentioned. Low stakes, quiet, wholesome and the hosts and judges are so funny. And sometimes the contestants too. Spoilers for ACFTL below!! I totally agree with everything you said ! There were so many moments that were left unfinished and left me feeling like “why was this put in the book”. I mean all those people dying at the inn?? We just accepted that that happened and moved on? We can assume that it was Chaos who did it but then it just leaves me asking why was he there? Did he take Jacks away? Was he there for another reason?? Also with Apollo we got so much of his POV but I was still left with questions about his intentions. For most of the book it felt like a mix between always wanting be more and then also protecting Eva. But there was moments in the book where it was implied that he still had some desire to hurt Eva, was this because of the curse lingering? Was he hurt by her choosing jacks the first time around ? Idk his motivations were clear overall but I was confused on how Eva fit into those motivations throughout most of the book

Agree. So little answers and while I understand there are storylines or whatever for other characters we should wrap up the current two main characters appropriately. We shouldn’t have to read other storylines for an answer about Eva or Jacks 😢

A Curse for True Love thoughts- I definitely thought the ending was wrapped up so quick. I felt like everything happened a once and the whole, Apollo getting stuck in the tree felt so… convenient almost? Jacks and Evangeline’s ending was kind of a let down considering all the angst and pain we went though, even though it was super cute

I also first read Once Upon A Broken Heart via audio in February and liked it, but not as much as I thought I would. I reread physically in September and def liked it better the 2nd time around, and increased my rating to a 4⭐️. I think the narration def affected my enjoyment the first time around. I find sometimes that I have to switch to a physical or e-book if I am not liking the audiobook.

Not about these books but a note on audiobooks. If you haven’t listened to the cruel prince series on audible then you need to! I have the physicals but the audio narrator is so good at being immersive that I think it made me so much more in love with the story.

I have specifically waited to watch this vlog for your thoughts on A Curse For True Love! My spoilers and thoughts - Below- Stephanie Garber is one of my favorite Authors and I loved Caraval and The Ballad of Never After! ACFTL was my most anticipated book of the year! And honestly I feel a little bit let down by ACFTL. I never really cared for Evangeline. Jacks is 100% my favorite character in this series. I also agree with you that we didn't get enough scenes from Jacks and way too much Apollo. I don't like Apollo and really don't want a book where he is the main character. However I would love some more content regarding the Valors! They are probably my favorite side story from this world! There are so many characters who can be explored if Stephanie chooses to do so. I probably won't pick up a book about Apollo but I'd consider a book featuring any of the Valors! In the end I still gave this book 4 stars but I just feel like it could have been wrapped up better!

I loved A Curse for True Love but I agree with a lot of your points. I felt the book was too short and a bit rushed. Maybe we could have had a longer book. Fun fact: You ARE grieving. Your brain doesn't know that the people you're reading about aren't real, so we feel real grief and sadness when we finish the book, just like we would if they left irl.

Spoilers for a Curse for True Love: I completely agree with all your thoughts! I feel like most people have said the same few things as well... Jacks should have been the star of this book, and the Apollo chapters should have been condensed a lot more. I would rather see future stories about Lala & Chaos, rather than one about Apollo & Aurora. I know what you mean about their love story being wrapped up in a nice bow, it felt a little too simple & short. I even thought about how nice it would have been to see Evangeline try to find Jacks' heart but WHILE she still didn't have her memories. That would have meant a lot more I think. It was still a fun read though, I also rated it 4 stars but it should have been a 6! Lol

ACFTL Owlcrate Epilogue Spoiler: I don't think Apollow is the MMC for the next book... the whole thing is that Aurora doesn't know who the guy is & the guy doesn't know who Aurora is, so it doesn't really make sense for Apollo to be the MC b/c they would know each other...

For me Eva’s mother always saying there’s many different endings for for anything and everyone one tracks for the sort of open endness of it which I could get on board for. I’m one of those people that understands and can appreciate the end of Allegiant . But not finally revealing the purpose of the apples, I will never forgive it. I feel like this author sacrificed these characters and this book all in the name of keeping the money rolling with more books. Which I find foul. A Curse for True Love ain’t it and it’s a hill I’ll gladly die on.

Ahh, I think reading ACFTL physically was a good call because I found the quality to be really bad and I did not care for the male narrator. It really threw things off for me. I didn't necessarily hate the book but I did find it pretty lackluster and disappointing. *mild spoilers* 100% agree that the lack of Jacks was so strange. It was like another person wrote him? And no one was ever rooting for Apollo and I don't know why we got so much of him. His love for Eva was weird too. It made no sense and it wasn't well enough explained. Also we never got an answer on Jacks and his apples???? What???? And I agree about all those loose ends and if she did that to set up more books, I find that annoying. You can't just ignore things in order to sell more books. Kerri Maniscalco did that and I gave up on her. So disappointing, honestly.
