Thanks for the great video. That door really looks good. Your attention to detail is both rewarding and encouraging.

Can't thank you enough for continuing to post progress videos. Your attention to detail is unparalleled. Such a motivating series to watch!!! (There is nothing boring about watching your process! Thousands of times better than the garbage being broadcast on TV/streaming apps 😂) I signed up for a Zenith build course, thanks to you!

Lexan is a brand name for polycarbonate and plexiglass is a brand name for acrylic, much similar to Freon being a brand name for refrigerant. It's not uncommon to see panels have mold marks where they were held during forming. A wool pad for the first cut will help get some heat into the material and reduce buffing time.

I have found regular toothpaste is also an excellent plastic polish. Additionally it leaves your canopy minty fresh!😊

Another great video with great tips. 👍 I have to remember to remove the protective film with the hairdryer.

Someone drew on the side of a new to me planes fabric with a sharpie. I was told coconut oil can be effective at removing permanent marker, or in the case of a hard non porous surface using fresh marker over the dried marker line and wiping off quickly with a rag is an option. I have yet to try the coconut oil.

Should use a little blue lecture on the latch hardware.

Curious, sincere question, can you explain your going with the Lycoming and not another ULP? Are you happy with the ULP 350iS in the Cruzer? Many thanks!

Mark, when you use the 3M polishing compound #1 and then go directly to the 3D buffing compound, is that only for polishing the door glass or do you use the same combination for buffing paint, too?
@KitplaneEnthusiast11 ай бұрын
When I used the 3M system for paint I used the 1, 2, and then 3. For the doors I figured the 3D buffing compound was pretty much doing the same thing as step 2 and 3 so I tried it and it worked great. Not sure if the results would be same on paint.

Its pretty sad that you had the same issue as far back as the cruiser. That is plenty enough time for QC to correct the issue. I assume you forwarded a complaint to Zenith about this issue. That is just plain laziness on the part of the manufacturer.

Rubbing alcohol removes sharpie.

I’m sure there are solvents that would work with the Sharpie but I didn’t want to risk damaging the window.

Wet sanding would have been easier too.

Next time you need to remove permanent marker, go over it with a dry erase marker and it will wipe right off with no effort whatsoever.

Great video as always, It is not a big deal I guess, however it makes one wonder why the Q.C. department find it acceptable to send out parts in that condition to the customer, and Zeneth are not the only ones who do this.
@KitplaneEnthusiast Жыл бұрын
I was thinking-Zenith may not even k ow about this. When they get the doors, they are completely covered with the tape, so they wouldn’t see the condition of them. I don’t think I ever mentioned the quality to Zenith even when I had the issue with the Cruzer doors. I’ll have to send Sebastien an email and just let him know.

Are those areas you sanded out covered by the door frame so you can't see them in the final installation? If so, that might be why it isn't considered an issue. Might be caused by the tooling used to hold the sheet if they vacuum form the parts in a mold.

Is alcohol also safe for the polycarbonate/Lexan?

Should be, and you just need enough to dampen the rag

I was thinking the same. Is there a reason not to just wipe it off with alcohol?
