one thing that will be super useful for the next litter and having them gain experience is the yearlings. whenever my wolf would go out to mark territory or hunt, i would try to leave at least one wolf behind to tend to the pups and they would always help the pups gain a few experience points while i was away. it has helped me better manage experience gain, though you still need to play with the pups plenty on your own. my usual pattern is getting experience level with the weight of the pups, which levels out relatively well by the young hunters quest.

How do you separate the wolves then to take some with you and leave some at the den?

@@Kipper4937 in my experience, at least one wolf will accompany you if you have at least yearlings + current litter. you can get them to follow you by whining at them or force them to stay behind by woofing at them. it's the easier way to control who comes and goes, though i can usually run away and have a few follow me. i don't think i've had all of my pups and mate chase after me by simply leaving the den/site and usually have to convince the stragglers to follow along.

@@Kipper4937 If you whine near your packmates, atleast two yearlings will stay at the den while the rest accompany you! If you go to tab, you can check to see which are coming with you and which are staying! If theyre coming with you, there will be two pawprints next to their name, the den icon if theyre staying, and a single pawprint once theyre out with you. One thing to note is that packmates can go on their own excursions. If you havent whined and youre chilling at the den, sometimes if you go into pack stats, a couple members will have that double pawprint to say theyre going out alone/together (if multiple wolves) to mark territory! You can also choose who comes with you by locking onto the wolf you want to bring and whining.

Update of my playthrough: Just completed young hunters once again and had my new litter who I named after gemstones in honour of Geode pack. They are Malachite, Opal, Geode, Amethyst(cause amethyst mountains) and Topaz. Also out of my 15 wolf pack, I had 2 subordinate and 1 yearling disperse, and my daughter started her own pack called Soda Butte with her mate Pepper. They practically demolished another rival pack in a matter of seconds. It was very interesting. I found I gained a lot of experience quickly this time and I'm not really sure why as I got them all 100 precent except one before 80 pounds. I didn't even hunt much elk, maybe like 5 which I participated very minimal in except when my pup Aster almost got one shot. Hunting with them is far more scary than fighting with them I found because I can ignore them completly during a wolf attack and just focus of downing one of the rival packs leaders or pups and the pups will only lose very little health(I was on challenging). I saw someone say playing affected the xp, but I didn't see any change, and during growing pups I let my pups wonder and barely played with them and they all got to 50xp before young hunters so I think thats like a set xp gain. I tried doing the rabbit trick, but my subordinate and yearlings kept taking them all so I couldn't test it out. But my young hunters took 5 hours. But I'm sure an hour was finishing off growing pups. So maybe in the future it would be best to play on your own, and update us on any like significant events? i don't really know. UPDATE: Just lost 2 pups, Malachite and Opal. I think the gems are cursed- I have never lost 2 pups so close together with my pack of 15.

I have noticed sometimes you choose the specific prey when hunting the elk and such. With my only pack -Pack Crimson, only had 2 pups that made it to adulthood, we chased the elk and just ran with them until thy chose themselves? Sometimes an ai can find one with lower health. Sometimes. And when attacking elk or moose fawns/calves, for moose it can be done so long as some wolves keep the mom distracted so she doesn’t attack. Might help later? Not saying I’m a pro like you. 😅 maybe Orion has coyote ptsd from when he was younger? 🎉 And for the next puppies hmm there’s Sunny, Sunraider, Clover, Sunshine, Summer, Comet, Sunray, River, Ember-my wolfs name. Lol she has made it to 2nd, Gen with 5 pups. Hmm Poppy? Crimson, Cascade, Lemon, Daisy, Acorn, lol thinking spring flowers/names. Wind, Flint, storm, hmm okay done for now.

Here’s an update on my new wolf in Wolfquest! I’m on my first litter and I have four pups with a 2 star mate named Phoenix (he has the white lady coat) My wolf’s name is Tawny and she has the first orange type coat! My runt is four pounds and named Rain! (I might go look to see if that’s right and edit it to be the correct pup.) The pups names are, Rain (the runt I think) Ripple Brook River My territory is 20-28 hexes I think and I haven’t gotten attacked yet! That’s the update.
