This one and the other tanks are amazing. Fantastic job. I do have a question. I noticed on the few videos I watched that you don't add battle damage. Is there a reason why you don't?

Superb skills, and a fantastic example of the fashion for 'artistic' as opposed to 'realistic' weathering.

nice result. I read somewhere that the tanks, especially late models, had the tools put on before they got painted, so they would all have the camo painted over them. Might be worth looking into.

Great job. To the question as which colour should be show under chipped off zimmerit, this can only be red in my opinion. Zimmerit started to be used in 1943. Since it was generally factory applied it was done before the factory applied colour, so on the base or primer colour. This was red. Also, in 1943 the default factory applied colour switched from grey to dunkelgelb (darkyellow). So the colour under the zimmerit can never ever be grey. Finally, since the tiger went into production in 1942, an early production tiger can never have zimmerit. Think of tiger 131 of the Bovington museum. Also seen in the movie Fury.

Hi maestro...excellent. When Zimmerit goes off, it should be red. Zimmerit was applied after the tank was painted with red oxide primer.

The original undercoat would probably have been red lead oxide, which is a sort of darkish ox-blood red. It’s perhaps also an accurate base coat for chipping unless you want rust colours.
@martinfoley51275 жыл бұрын
hi bayin, came across your web site, and youtube videos. a couple a days ago. wow. your models and painting techniques, are fantastic, when you do the chipping on your modelswith the hair spray. do you have to hair spray in between each layer of paint, or can you do two or three layers of paint, and when you dab with a wet brush the effect is the same. showing the different layers of paint, keep up the great work and videos.

Your paint work and attention to detail is astonishing. I'm in awe. May I give you a bit of a suggestion: Before painting, please consider sharpening the details of the basic model with a dremel tool and the finest bits and stones you can find. The model still looks like a plastic model toy with all those fat and round surfaces and corners.

You guys take the deal a step to far. The models really look great in details but the appearance is as if you had found the tank abbandoned in a swamp after 50 yrs and not as if it was a working battle station in service. Good work and astonishing techniques though.
