I am staring all this in the face right now. Massey 390 4 wheel drive. Getting my front axle off was a real bear without a piece of equipment to help.. Just got my shortblock back from the machine shop 2 days ago. Thanks for the videos. Been enjoying seeing your journey with this tractor.

Great job Pete. I watched all of your vids on the rebuild and I enjoyed everyone. I was just offered a International B414 with loader and bush hog for $1K that needs a motor rebuild. I've rebuilt gas engines but never a diesel. So your vids were very helpful for me to decide if I want to go there.

How's she goin'? Well that must make you feel a lot better. It's great that you got the Massey back underway!!! Congrats. That loader did go on pretty easy. I like the size of that tractor. She's a work horse I bet. Have a good one eh!!!

Thanks for this series. I found coolant in the oil pan on our 231 today so I suspect I'll be replicating what you had to do with your uncles tractor in the near future. I have the service manuals but seeing it done will be a big help as I work to get ours back up and running.

I know your're happy to get it back together. Pete you have it running great. Can't beat them older tractors. I believe every mechanic learns how manipulate their tools in one way or the other! I can't tell you how many times I have doubled up on wrenches doing front end alignments to give me a little more leverage. Have a Blessed Day Pete!

Good job, I have a 231 also, with a Bush Hog brand loader. It has worked well for me without any problems. The alternators are supposed to be a weak point in the electrical system and I had to replace mine.

Yeah I've used two wrenches but only in a pinch. I have a few cheater bars in by tool box. An old pipe banged on one end allows a bunch of my box wrenches to fit in it and give me additional leverage. Good job.

Hey there thanks for the video, I have a 236 loader on a 282 massey, do you happen to know what hydraulic fluid they take and how much it takes?

Been enjoying your channel for a while. I own a MF 231 with a Perkins diesel engine. I want to add one external hydraulic circuit outlet, but having trouble finding out just what I need to do the job. Can you help out with that info?

Please sir can you make a video or help me learn how to install or where to get the diverter to obtain hydraulics for your tractor and its loader ? I have this tractor but was told it cannot accommodate any implements that use hydraulics

Thanks for the video! I have a 231s that doesn't have hydros. Is it possible for me to add it somehow so I can add a front loader? It's my grandads old tractor, so excited to have it!

You can definitely find loaders for them still. Hope you find one.

Did you have to prime the fuel system? It does not seem like you did not in the video. If so I wish you did. I recently picked up a 231 and the fuel gauge only goes to 1/4 tank and I ran it out.
@cheaphomesteading3 жыл бұрын
If there’s fuel in your glass bowl cracked the injector line on your injection pump Revit up fully crank it over and see if you’ll spurts of fuel out if it’s spurts out. Tighten it up and see if it will start hope you get a run. Hope you get it running

So my loader recently began lifting very slow. Hydrolicc pump you think?
@cheaphomesteading Жыл бұрын
Do you live in a cold climate? If the oil is a little whitish, you could have some water in your oil, and once it gets cold, freezes up a bit. If the hydraulics are just weak and it doesn’t seem to be temperature related, it could be the pump. but I would make sure that you change the hydraulic filter do a service first to make sure that the filters aren’t plugged up before you go after the pump. Thanks for watching man.

Just curious, I noticed how fast your loader operates. I have the 231 with a AGCO Model 2 loader with 2 1/2 inch cylinders. Its about half that speed. Any ideas why?

My uncle had one on his dairy farm growing up, it was always broke and he was always calling it a MF, and that isn't for Massey Ferguson. I think he just got a bad one.
