MAD AMAZING Vocals 2020 Aksel Kankaanranta (contest cancelled) 2024 Henri Piispanen, who sings the chorus is a VERY good vocalist. He was a bit off on the night I will give you that (the winning performance went better.) But if you are trying to claim that he is just plain awful here, well then I can't help you.😄 And Windows95man was not ivented for this, he has been doing this character for over 10 years now. Thank You!🙃 Also, I caught that 11:44 you wanted to laugh, but you held it back... I heard the chuckle😅 Oh, one more thing, it won't drag the contests reputation down one bit. Chill. OMG! 😂 Love how this song divides people just like Käärijä did last year! Maybe it’s a good sign?! Maybe you don’t remember how all were saying the same for his performance?! It’s not a joke entry, Per Se, it’s fun entry with deeper meaning lyrics: “Call me what you may, see if I care, see me slay! Is there something wrong with the way I look? Is there something wrong with who I am? If I'm not alright, tell me why do I Feel so beautiful tonight? No rules! It's how I live How I find the wind beneath my wings It's how I learn to fly! It’s an anthem for being who you are 🌈🎉🎊 Love the message and also how it combines the Finnish mythodology Kalevala where the world is created from the goldeneye’s’ egg. In the stage performance the singer Henri represents the bird (see the similarity of the movements and the clothing) and the Windows95man is born (as all humans) naked only wearing Kalevala inspired boots. The stage coordinator tries in the middle of the song give the rules to our hero but he puts the instructions flying in the air. He wants to be free and who he is despite what the others try him to be! He is born naked like we all are and he is looking for his jeans shorts and finally happy to find them and celebrating with fireworks 💥 About Sara Siipola (I was supporting her) and her possibilities: the times Finland is high in the results in the scoreboard in ESC is when we deliver something different and out-of-the-box. We have delivered many exceptionally good and “quality” songs to the ESC for example 2017 one of the best ballads in Eurovision history with Norma Jean “Blackbird” and we didn’t even qualify from the semifinals thanks to the juries. So Finnish people think screw the high establishment juries and let’s have fun and be who we are and send something that IS us! It’s not the people’s fault - it’s the establishment’s - at least we tend to think here with many examples. But let’s have fun and enjoy life as it is🎉 We deserve it🎊 It’s going to be great ESC spring💃🕺

I do also want to say, when you say it “drags the reputation of the contest down”, I just want to share that as an Australian who fell in love with it as a kid and got up at 5am religiously to watch it and now spend thousands of dollars I don’t have to fly to go and see it, these acts are the kind of thing that made me fall in love with it. For me, Eurovision is about joy. It’s about finding fun in a different way, through a different culture, and occasionally you find something really beautiful. But the fun is what made me fall in love. Moldova 2011 was the first act that just made me think “wow, I don’t know what is going on over there, but I love it!” It’s JOY! I have heard the comment that this brings down the reputation of the competition more than once, but as somebody who started as an outsider seeing acts like this, I couldn’t disagree with that comment more. Sometimes Eurovision is about art, but sometimes, it’s just about joy. This act makes me feel joy, and I love it for that ❤️

Aw hey fellow Aussie! I get up at 5am every year to watch it too, as well as some national finals, what made me fall in love with Eurovision was actually Verka Serduchka when I was a teenager! I had never seen something so crazy and fun! Then the first time I went to ESC was in Ukraine in 2017 so it was very full circle. As an Australian fan it's super expensive for us to travel for the show. I love the "joke entries" I don't personally call them that, they are songs that make me smile and laugh and give me some happiness in this tough world.

Windows95man is a stage name of the other guy, he is a dj and an artist who draws inspiration from the 90's hence the name. He has had this alter ego for an decade so it's not made just for Eurovision. I don't personally understand why ppl are saying this is a joke entry, when listening the lyrics more closely it actually has a meaning to it. How I get the lyrics is that you are accepting yourself/do your own thing and start to make it successful despite the critics of others. There's no rules to be yourself!
@annalyon27299 ай бұрын
The lyrics can be anything in a so called joke entry. They can have a message, but it's a joke entry all the same if it's performed and presented as such. And this is a joke entry, so over the top silly and presented like a parody of an stereotypical eurovision song. Like in Fire Saga movie. Yes fun but cringe fun. Doesn't last long
@delerror51939 ай бұрын
@@annalyon2729 Tbf I have never seen Fire Saga movie, so I have no reference from there. But still I don't see how Windows95man is parodying eurovision here? There has been many years when there's an absolute weird and clear joke entry which sometimes don't even have a message and ppl are now complaining this? And I think this is not even over the top when comparing ie. Verka or Dustin the Turkey. No rules has a clear message, which can be also seen from the performance. Loaning the comment of @GettNumber from Wiwibloggs reaction video of the live performance: "Perfect self fulfilling prophecy by putting this song up against the fandom". Also, keep in mind that this is National Finals, not Eurovision yet. The main object here (or at least in Finland) is to make the performance to win the nation over and if won, then tweak it for the international stage. That may not be internationally known but the egg here is a refrence of Finnish Epic Kalevala, in which the world is born from a duck egg and this reference was used mainly just because this was his first actual song though having a decade long career already. Same with Käärijä last year, he had on his stage pallets in national final, which finns sometimes call Euro-lava, which could also be translated as Euro stage. Also, did you watch UMK 2024? I did, and imo the winner was the only one of the constestants that: 1. had rather decent singing live 2. wasnt' boring performance 3. did stuck in the head Most of the contestants failed either of the first 2, which was a huge bummer. Sexmane's Mania was probly only other great live but the song just does not stick in head. In that note, would you choose a perfomance that actually sounds and looks even somewhat ready or one that lacks something?

Eurovision has the juries so these don't win, but at least we can have some fun with it. Maybe this shows why having a 75/25 split of televote/juries isn't the best for Eurovision final (I do think a 60/40 split would be better than 50/50). What I consider ESC to be, is a chance to introduce the audience to different musical cultures from all around Europe. What you witnessed here, is what Finnish musical culture occationally is, and regardless of what you or anyone else might think, this song and this performance is what the majority of the Finnish people likes. I didn't vote for this song, but I genuinely love all of it. It's not just music, it's performance art. Windows95man adopted his stage name years ago, and for this song, as he is more a dj and a visual artist, he is collaborating with Henri Piispanen, who is doing the vocals, and who can actually sing, well. Everything in this performance is intentional, and it is quite obvious some people just see the surface and think it's a joke song. That's fair. True art is not made to please everyone, and it would be, in my opinion, much worse to hear you not to react in any way. Art is made to bring the artist's vision to life, regardless of the reception. Hate it or love it, No rules makes you react. Unlike you might think, we didn't pick this song because our sole purpose as a nation is to win the ESC. We picked this song, because this is kind of exactly what Finland is.

I genuinely love it! Even though they definitely weren't my favourite before. I get it, not everyone is gonna like it, some people just don't have that ability to look beyond and they perceive sth automatically as joke, stupid entry (not being an insult, just my observations in terms of cinematography and music markets). Yes, it's cringe, dated, stupid, and that's exactly how it was supposed to be. I buy it completely, we need this kind of songs at the contest and we gotta stop pretending that ESC is a prestigious competition for greatest composers on the earth. Nope, it's just a music competition and way to have fun. About their voices, I disagree. They sound completely fine, probably the most polished performance of the evening as well. Also, I love the story behind this choice. Just to remind you, juries for the past few years kept fu*king up Finland's chances to do well or even win. Soo, after last year they thought "you know what? Screw it, juries will bury us anyway, so let's just go mad and send sth at least entertaining" and therefore public let Windows95man win, who btw was last in jurys votes. That's iconic lol :D

Finally! Someone who has the same opinion as me. They're just trying too hard, that's why it's not funny at all. I loved Kaarija, this was something new, original and with good quality and taste. This is just cheap.

actually love this one now especially the high pitched bits. But its no Cha cha cha - still I prefer it to Norway now & can't figure it out... its just meant to be purposely old school. I like it more than Israel or Spain, which surprised me

Well, it's one of the real Finnish humour (Käärijää was one too but a bit different). But it's hard to understand to others, even to some Finns. I'm living in Finland now but... They should finally try with sth serious like Anna Puu or smb... This level of humour is "too much," I'm afraid.

this was by far the best of the finnish selection...💛💚💙💜🤎🤎 the jury underrated this pretty... only the UK gave them 12 points - but the televoting made it possible 2 win -generally after pandemia and with 2 wars ... Europe just wants to have a good time and have fun... going back 2 the 90ies... and there shouldnt be hate on this entry... its so important to have a diversity...among the genres...for the worlds biggest stage

I agree you need diversity in the types of songs but you also need quality as well

No they didn't, the juries placed this exactly where it needed to be. And it will be the same at Eurovision

I'm still in shock which song Finland chose. I was convinced that Sara Siipola would win, her song was one of the best for me this year at ESC 2024

I understand and respect this entry. Do I understand Toy's & Goy's reactions? Very much Unlike Käärijä's song last year destroying UMK (he was over 340 points ahead of Portion Boys in the final score...remember), this song has a divided opinion by the Finnish UMK fans. No Rules this year only won by 40 points!! This is NOT winning Eurovision...and IMO, if another of the undecided/unannounced countries send a better staged/better sung "joke entry", Finland 🇫🇮 has the chance to not even get out of the Semi-Final. I loved Käärijä last year, ever since I pointed Cha Cha Cha out of the UMK line-up as the songs released last year. This year...I'm OK with Finland 🇫🇮 going from hero to zero.

I really recommend you check out Sara Siipola - Paskana! This won the jury vote and came 2nd in the televote; windows95man came last in the juries, won the televote and still won. Paskana probably would have been my winner of the entire competition this year and my favourite Finnish entry ever.

I do not recommend because there are already depressing things happening here in Europe with war going on and all Without that Sara's I wanna Hang Myself -song🤮. Keep those whining songs only in Finnish radios. It is perfect for you listen with your Koskenkorva drinking and cry with.
