Think about it. He lost his mind from putting on the crown. He became the ice king and talk to penguins, and his man one was evil lord. He kidnaps princesses because he lost one he care about. He had connections with demon girl and raised her like a baby. His wife came back only to disappear because she was trying to turn him back to normal. She eventually did this by binding with chaos god. Now Ice King now Simon is normal and clearly misses all the chaos and rage that came with his life. He may want to be the ice king again.

Fiona and cake universe is just a universe in the multi-verse which ice king created comics about because he was being beamed into his head. I’m pretty sure it was not due to the crowd at all. It was probably due to some other things like the cosmic owl.

Apparently the comics gave her an unrelated origin of being a water nymph. The comics are historically non canon and this show is clearly taking liberties with the Fionna and Cake characters. Who knows if we'll see a "Simone Petrikov" in the other world.

It feels strange that Adventure Time was there my whole childhood. It started when I was 5 and here I am as an 18 year old crying over cartoon characters. They have something magical which the real world doesn't have, a sense of wonder, friendship and hope. I wish more people watched cartoons and I really wish there were more meaningful cartoons for adults rather than shallow and immature family guy rip-offs.

I mean if Simon is still around in anything canon that took place after Come Along With Me, then he’s no doubt losing his mind over Betty, and the decisions he made along the course of his (not Ice King’s) life. That would be the most natural conclusion. And especially considering that not only does this sneak peek feature Fiona and Cake jumping out of PRISMO’s inter-dimensional ‘time cube’ thingy at the very end, but we also see Simon there, (amongst a few other places) where he is seemingly questioning PRISMO for clues about Betty during the montage of that same finale episode…

I can agree w/ this guess; I think even if simon didn't seek finn out (could've been the other way around), they're going on an adventure together and it's too dangerous for simon. in the trailer there's also the giant fish monster roaring at simon, and simon sadly walking w/ a bloody arm. so if ur guess is correct, simon could be disappointed that his attempt to clear his head didn't work, or is just...upset abt getting attacked by a monster lol. I'm p sure those shots we see of simon shaving and w/ his hands over his face are early scenes in the series showing how miserable he is, so we'll see some of him in ooo before he ends up w/ fionna and cake. and I imagine him and finn getting along seeing as finn prolly isn't doing so hot either--I'm p sure jake has died at this time
