It think the “exit” in the later is super poetic because of long term sobriety and also what you reference; identity~ and how shedding unhealthy habits/aspects/addictions is very difficult. Cause sometimes you don’t even seek them out! And then suddenly your identity is sorta tested

dungeon train is defidently a metaphor for addiction and how hard it is to escape it - and hall of egress is about leaving your past self or mistakes behind - shedding your identidy and becoming someone new or also another allegory being leaving your childhood and learning to mature, but the use of exits as a symbol for these metaphors in both episodes in pretty interesting

@@slantoons The two episodes are overtly and intentionally connected. They center on Finn and his avoidant/depressive tendencies; and what that would mean for addiction. At the beginning of Egress, there’s a big reason that they pointedly call back to the dungeon train, and Finn still isn’t recounting it as a negative experience. He hasn’t changed. The “Something different” has yet to come.

He's my favorite character of any cartoon, i am very familiar to change and growth, was obssessed by it for a good chunk of my life and his character embodies that feeling unlike any other. He begins as an idealistic hands on child who wants to directly change the world and help others but with time learns that some times, the best way to help someone is to let them help themselves while showing support, kindness and love. I almost cried out of joy when i saw my boy in Fionna and Cake, despite not having Jake around he still as positive and well as i hoped him to be. Such a fascinating character, i feel a loss of words to express my admiration of him. Great video, great channel, will subscribe for the ride.

Finn is very relatable, I cried during distant lands a lot and was overjoyed yet very fascinated by his morals and overall appearance we saw during fionna and cake, such a well written character but anyway thankyou so much for 1 sharing your opinion, and 2 for subbing if you did i HIGHLY appreciate it so much.

just a fun fact: the two languages the modern Humans speak in adventure time are English and Swedish. Most Humans speak English, the signs on Founder's Island are all in Swedish but few such as Alva only speak Swedish.

Finn's development was exceptional, from a silly and immature child to a mature and adventurous character. He learned about others, his true identity, and the true meaning of adventure. He forgave the Ice King, overcame his fear of the ocean, and developed a strong relationship with Jake and his friends. After Jake's death, Finn accepted losses and moved on, as showcased in the Fionna and Cake spin-off series. Another reason why I love Finn is that he is relatable and he ages with the audience. Like he started when he was 12 and I was 6 when it aired and by the time it ended in 2018, he was 17. In Distant Land (Obsidian) he was in his early to mid 20s and I was 16 and 17. Watching through the series sometimes you dont notice the little moments where Finn grows up, you just get the sense that he IS growing. You did a fantastic job highlighting these moments so we can see the step by step walkthrough of his character. Great video 👍

The 2nd time Finn lost his arm, he only didn't get mad or depressed about it because he knows it's pointless and there is nothing he can do about it. Not even Prismo can help since he has limits for his powers (he can't revive Betty). He only lost his arm because of the grass sword. If he didn't have that sword then he wouldn't lose his arm. He would still want it but he can't because it would be pointless.

Uh sorry not sure if i agree with how you see Finn hurt fp it’s like really stupid if you think he was basically drugged and Jake egging him to do it and cosmic owl indirection to make him have no choice to do it and I also find it weird cb is the only one who knew about the prophecy but not Finn or pb you think something like this would be known especially by pb and not some random candy citizen makes me think maybe destiny was using fp and Finn relationship to make their destiny be true like fp hates her dad and wasn’t comfortable with the flame citizens due to her 13 year old imprisonment but she desperately choose to do it to have a purpose and not feel the pain of being hurt by everyone like this heck Finn didn’t tell her why and how it happened just apologize and that’s it how would you feel if your friend was drugged and basically forced by different people to hurt you and you didn’t know until years later that’s how I feel it’s disgusting to me but love Finn growth and would probably thank fp for teaching him to be mature about relationships even when Finn was trying his best to support fp dreams his drive was the desire but he notices her pain and feared her power which is feared to me how he also enjoys her fighting like that’s confusing why would vault of bones show him in fear of her power but attracted to it seems weird flaw to me also why didn’t Finn tell fp about the full context of how it happened would she understood his situation like it or not you can’t just say it’s Finn fault if the show didn’t even bother explaining how Finn got to it and would fp understand what if she went through dreams Finn had and made him upset what if she broke her own trust rule would she be more horrified and wish she knew Finn didn’t mean to cause her harm that something I wish they did as a episode why didn’t they just have Finn explain how frost and fire happened (My theory is ooo fate made the 2 be forced in a relationship to Sabotage it and benefit from it like who told lemongrab about pb being 13 and it being so coincidental that Finn and fp were born the same year but a week apart with both their birthdays being march according to the wiki and i wonder sometimes if fp slowly gonna be like her father fk like same armor and has a taste of ruling with a iron fist sure she’s more kind and serious with her ruling but that truth policy and being paranoid of betrayal possibly cause generation trauma for fp heir who slowly feels upset of their mother lack of trusting or emotions being too mean or something with trust making fp too independent to not let anyone help her now she’s in her own world the fire kingdom and follows a similar mindset to pb a bit not letting love take her again and maybe why fp let pb go cause she understands her doing her way is how she protects her kingdom and copies that to not feel like that that be great if season 2 of fionna and cake focus on that or a what if fp did what Finn did and see Finn go a dark path like use the grass sword with the demon blood sword to fuse them as one to be the red grass blade and then have that sword absorb the lich to have a black grass sword engulfed in green flames and then have 2 Finn fight eachother to fuse one of the Finn with both sword to be the black vine sword with red thorns around it and possibly turn Finn into a black vine knight with a green fireball head and red thorn claws and vine tongue and he goes on a evil path and turn pb into the same age as him so they can date again with pepbutt helping as a way of making sure pb isn’t in the lab much and seeing if Finn is reasonable and not a feral monster as Finn goes through a pawn manipulation arc where the grass sword evilness along with the lich corrupt the good hero making him value strength to protect ooo or just protect his heart from pain and fp would feel guilty or threaten or horrified of her mistake of following that dream due to some addiction in her head)
