Tiny little desktop engine running off the heat from a tea candle. Its amazing what can run from such little heat.

A tea candle is quite a bit of heat, its ~80 watts I think. A horsepower in a car is something like 730 watts, so a tea candle puts out a whole 0.11 horsepower or so.

Thats gorgeous would be good to see if it has the torque to produce power from a motor @1A 5v

Could you tell me where you purchase this little engine please?

I wish I got this instead of the thermal engine. The piston on that tone was foam, and separated from the rod a few months later.

Well its a little late but, nevertheless here you go www.machinistblog.com/free-plans-jeroen-jonkmans-stirling-60-2/. You will have to look around for plans for the 2 missing drawings but here's a good starting point

Why do you need petrol for this? No you don't even a parabolic mirror pointing from the sun will do.....smart arse

yes but butane and other organic fuel came from petrol , and about idiots i dont know it just came to me , and yes that was a strange vid "panama"

Yeah, but it would charge very slowly, and the efficiency would be low

Adomas B but it would be cool, and in the end, that’s all that’ll matter since plugging it into the wall will always be best

Petrol is a good energy source. You would need like 20,000 tea candles to power a car for a few hours then all 20,000 of those tea candles would be used up. That sounds like a bad way to power a car. When you charge an electric car some large proportion of that energy comes from natural gas and coal. Some day we will have enough wind/solar to charge the electric car without using fossil fuels, but until then whats wrong with densely stored chemical energy being captured by reacting it with oxygen?

FennessyMusic I was wondering the same thing. I have a brilliant 7 year old nephew that would love this thing!
@jamesnizzy97744 жыл бұрын
@@beri232 You can't actually buy this, it is based on the 'Sterling 60' engine designed and made buy John Jonkman. I am currently manufacturing the parts to make one of these myself atm but i don't think you can buy it. Sorry in advance.

can this be used to make electricity? maybe power a calculator? lol
@tra70175 жыл бұрын
peltier thermo-electric generators go directly from temperature differences to electricity. The rotational energy of the engine could also be put into a generator that could spin magnets against a wire coil to make electricity. The peltier generator would be better for a calculator and be simpler, they look like little white squares with wires coming out of them. You just need to apply heat to one side (and the other side needs to stay colder, so if you have a lot of heat for a long time the cold side should have a dissipator like a heat sink or a fan or something)

The external combustion source (the candle) is releasing pollution though.

Oh it is true, but it is a funny header because you use flame to get the heat, candle means nothing, you're not gonna power your house and car on candles, until you concentrate enough sunlight yourself on that thing or on a multiple of stirlings you need petrol thats who. What did you do today? Did you turn on your light, what about going to work, did you bring 70,000 candles to get there? lol I get your point but that thing is so small and that candle is hotter than you might think, you think it is not hot put your hand over it you can't do it for more than a few seconds without burning yourself badly. It takes energy to get energy, nothing is free, you want to claim no petrol than do it, but you first need to actually do it. Where is your parabolic mirrors, until you at least set up mirrors to concentrate and store huge amounts of energy you can claim no petrol? Where do you think all this heat comes from? Your gonna need petrol, and you do need it, you just used it reading this comment, etc...Candles are do not burn as hot as petrol, and it would take trillions of candles to make the header on your video statement true.
