You're tired now, lie down I'll be waitin' to give you the good news It might take patience And when you wake up, it won't be over So don't you give up We've got the time to take the world And make it better than it ever was That's what they'll say about us If I say a cliche, it's 'cause I mean it We can't walk away, we gotta get in between it And when you wake up, we'll grow together So don't you give up We've got the time to take the world And make it better than it ever was That's what they'll say about us I never said it would be easy I'm never giving up, believe me I used to think the pain would fade, but it never does You're tired now, lie down I'll be waitin' to give you the good news It might take patience And if you don't wake up I'll know you tried to I wish you could see him He looks just like you

My mom passed away from dementia in February. She held on for so long while her body deteriorated. She was waiting for my brother tell her he'd be okay. She passed away that same weekend. This song is a heartbreaking work of beauty.

Finneas: "I wrote this song in June after spending the day at a protest in Downtown LA, filled with hope with the prospect that millions of people were coming together from all over the world to fight against institutionalized racism and inequality. During that time, I’d also been following Amanda Kloots as she documented her husband Nick Cordero’s time in the ICU while in a coma after being admitted for COVID-19. Imagining her sitting by his side, waiting, hopeful for him to wake up, it got me thinking about all the millions of people, all over the world, who also have loved ones, parents, children and extended family members going through the same thing. Fighting this horrific virus. Some will over-come and wake up again, while others, tragically may not. This song is dedicated to all who have had to endure this year. I hope this song can offer some sort of comfort to those who may need it." I MEAN THIS HURTS

I think this song also represents a situation of an unfortunate pregnancy. The husband is singing this song for his wife who's trying her best to give a healthy birth at the cost of her life. But in the end, she closes her eyes permanently. Husband is saying, "And if you don't wake up I'll know you tried to I wish you could see him He looks just like you" for the son she gave birth to. 😭❤

*LYRICS:* [Verse 1] You're tired now, lie down I'll be waitin' to give you the good news It might take patience And when you wake up, it won't be over So don't you give up [Chorus] We've got the time to take the world And make it better than it ever was That's what they'll say about us [Verse 2] If I say a cliché, it's 'cause I mean it We can't walk away, we gotta get in between it And when you wake up, we'll grow together So don't you give up [Chorus] We've got the time to take the world And make it better than it ever was That's what they'll say about us [Bridge] I never said it would be easy I'm never giving up, believe me I used to think the pain would fade, but it never does [Outro] You're tired now, lie down I'll be waitin' to give you the good news It might take patience And if you don't wake up I'll know you tried to I wish you could see him He looks just like you

I stumbled onto this FINNEAS video, wondering how I missed it from three years ago. In this song, I see myself trying to tell my younger self it is okay at the same time, telling my son we will live this life to the fullest. He wants me in his life, and I'm so excited and scared. I can't get through this song without breaking down as I hear something new each time. I'm in my 50s. I wish I had been in touch with my emotions at the FINNEAS age. What an incredible artist.

For anyone wondering about the last line, here’s what Finnes said “The emotional track was also inspired by Cordero, who died earlier this year after complications of the coronavirus. Finneas explained, “The other component of the song was [that] I was very closely following Nick Cordero’s story on Instagram, via his wife [Amanda Kloots], and Nick and his wife were not people I’d ever met. I don’t know them at all. I saw the headlines about his health, just like everybody else did. I just became incredibly attached to this family that I’d never met before. I kind of wrote this song as if you were singing to your loved one who was in a hospital bed while the world was protesting outside. I did make a point to keep the song fairly ambiguous because I know everybody’s sort of going through different circumstances of the same things right now.” 💫

I’m a nurse and covid deaths have me feeling so jaded after all this time.. so many unnecessary, unexpected, deaths. Some came quickly, some came slowly. Some begged for the vaccine or a new treatment before being vented and you had to be honest and let them know that there was nothing else to do, and that things really might not be okay.. but encouraged them that it could be and that you’d keep fighting for them. I talk to people on vents / those that are unconscious (or even deceased) like I talk to people who are awake. I like to think that if they do hear me, they’ll have some hope. Unfortunately so many people lost hope being in a hospital alone. Some refused to be vented at all knowing they wouldn’t live through it; most begged for their families and we had to tell them that we could only assist them in calling or FaceTiming them in their last moments due to covid protocols. This also went for people in the hospital dying from something other than covid; protocols were all the same. These people died not alone since the hospital staff cared more than I can ever express, but without family and people they know and love. All of the support came from staff. And many tears did too. Do you know how it feels to carry the burden of so many last words? Last hand holds? Last breaths? I love nursing, I love taking care of people, but it’s been so traumatic the past few years, that I’m considering switching careers or at least leaving bedside. People are still dying. Fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, children, friends, coworkers.. too many lost when there are ways to prevent it. Thank a healthcare worker next time you see them and remember to keep doing your part. Everyone deserves a fair chance at life.

In an interview FINNEAS himself has said that he’s proud to be called Billie’s brother. In fact, I believe he said something along the lines of that he never wanted to be more than Billie’s brother. So if you call him Billie’s brother or FINNEAS, it’s still him. They have a great relationship and in a sense her successes are his successes because he’s more than just a singer. He’s a humble and charming guy. Let’s just listen and appreciate his music and not be concerned about comparisons, titles, and whatnot. Pretty please.

I hope this song can offer some sort of comfort to those who may need it.

OK HEAR ME OUT. From the video, I'm getting the story of him and his girlfriend starting their relationship and as they grow closer the light grows brighter. Once they're in love their world starts spinning (when he starts spinning in the video). Then the confetti comes when they realize they're having their first baby. Then the water comes, her water breaks and it's time for her to give birth. Then the pink sort of chalk on his face signifies it's a baby girl ( kind of like the chalk explosions at a gender reveal party). Then he stops spinning, she didn't make it through the birth and the chaos is over. Even though he says its a boy fuck that's just totally what I got from this. Lol love this song its great on so many levels. Edit: I realize what the song is about now, I meant for this to be purely hypothetical and just wanted to share my perspective :)

his songs are perfect for emotionalists. truthfully dismaying but beatifully soothing lyrics. he never tried so hard to make his voice uncontrollably powerful, a composer and singer but also an extraordinary story teller with his songs

" I use to think that pain will fade but it never does" when u think about it, we just learn to cope with it but we never went past the pain.

" During that time, I’d also been following Amanda Kloots as she documented her husband Nick Cordero’s time in the ICU while in a coma after being admitted for COVID-19. I hope this song can offer some sort of comfort to those who may need it. " - Finneas . . . . . . . . What he said means so much to me...
