You are correct about why it's called long drink. They made two different long drinks for the 1952 olympics, to have ready to drink cocktails in the bars for all the visitors. One was the gin & grapefruit, other one was brandy & pommac(apple and grape soda). They originally intended to only produce them for the olympics.

Oh yeah, everyone (including me) always forgets the second flavor, Brandy & Pommac.

Hartwall has a seasonal flavor every now and then but that's all they are. Ginger was an absolute banger but I guess it wasn't made to last. Pineapple is so popular that, two years later, it still regularly sells out. It's a staple now.

So I feel a bit stupid but apparently, the liquor store in town has carried this for a bit. I wasn't looking in the right place! So I bought some tonight (the original flavor) and I like it! It's so refreshing on the these hot, humid evenings of south Texas.

I liked the bergamot-flavored one, too, but for a different reason: the grapefruit taste was milder, not as bitter. For the same reason I prefer other fruits over the original one.

Interesting! I thought it was more bitter, but at the same time I thought it was more genuine, and complex. Either way it was very delicious.

Helsinki Distilling Company produces Long Drinks that are more on the bitter side. I'm a big fan of the yuzu flavor. They've recently come out with blood orange, have to try that one.

I tried the blood orange just recently! I think the one we tasted is still the absolute best.

I had two great pizzas in Finland, one was the reindeer salami in Rovaniemi and then the Kebab pizza in Helsinki.

Kebab pizza is super good, I've never tried reindeer pizza.

Hartwall introduced the pineapple-flavored long drink to the market a year ago in the spring, if I remember correctly. Today, the flavor is very popular and several manufacturers have their own version of it. For this spring, Hartwall launched a new flavor, Gin and Lemonade, which combines the flavors of lemon, lime and yuzu fruit. I don't really like either of them, the pineapple is simply too sweet for my taste and the Lemonade tastes too weird.

Oh I didn't notice that the lemonade also had Yuzu in it. I should have tried it...
