Finnish military winter trousers in M05 frost camouflage are relatively nice. Lack of pockets, for example, is it's downfall. Finnish defence force should seriously try to update these a little bit.

Am I to assume these are the actual Finnish MOD issue version? They seem like they may be a bit more practical then the version put out by VST.. But neither version are waterproof, correct?

What is VST? Don't know that term. If I recall it correctly, these are not 100% genuine army issue trousers but based on the same materials and patterns bought from the private sector. Should be identical to the army issue ones. Determine waterproof. These are waterproof enough to stand in a small drizzle or rain or sit in snow for a while. But are not rain gear so extended exposure to the rain is not a good thing.

@@KMHiker HAHA.. VST-> Varusteleka. I abbreviated to save time. My apologies... Thank you kindly for your reply. Your reply fits into what I have gathered in regards to being waterproof vs water resistant ..Greetings from Alaska..

They seem like a better, stronger version in the ECWCS lvl 7. The the thin material is super easy to puncture while skiing... These would be better!

L7 (or any thermal layer) is not ment to be worn when moving, especially the trousers. L7 is a good thermal layer that breathes well - this is not.

Are these insulated?
@KMHiker Жыл бұрын
Yes they are. They have a very thin insulation. They are over trousers so the yare supposed to be worn over everything else. If you compare these to ECWCS L7, these suck big time. These do not let the moisture out because of the structure (having a plastic membrane).
