Looks like normal driving behaviour for a taxi. But I’ve been driving a VW that was an old retired commanders van for the Swedish fire service in Malmö and it ran like a champ whenever I put the pedal down. Thanks to a police chipped TDI 5 cylinder 2.5 litre engine.

Why do finland drive ice cream vans?

A Van is a common vehicle when it comes to normal patrolling in Finland. Vans are also the best option for the Finnish police because in a safe & calm country like Finland there is no big need for supercharged v8’s. The equipment in the vans is also more advanced than in normal cruisers, which of course costs more money (one van costs about 90 000 €). But in fact, most of the Finnish police cars are normal cars. Some are with police tapes, but most are unmarked and equipped with a bigger engine. If an ”ice cream truck” isn’t enough they’ll use for example mercedes Benz CLS 350 CDI, Vw passat r-line, Skoda superb & octavia rs, Vw golf gti and other cars with bigger engines.

@@blinder2786 If you look, almost every video in finland has this ice cream truck. A regular Volvo v70 D5 would be gone in seconds. Not very good for patrolling or work with since you are spending many hours in the chairs.

yamahaevo the videos show Only a fraction of the chases etc. And As i said Finnish police has fast cars, used to have fast volvos as Well. Fast cars are unmarked and all of them don’t have cameras if i’m right. But of course they arent always available which Can make things hard. But that’s Why the officers are trained to handle those vans like race cars and the vans are also optimised for the police.

@@blinder2786 I'dont agree that a slow heavy ice cream truck hardly reaching 120mph is the best option "for finland" You can not pursuit anything with it. Just saying its seen very often in videos in Finland.
