#72, Petri Kontiola got such a big reaction from the crowd because this was his first champioship in his 21 year pro career: he's from Seinäjoki, a city on the west coast but he played his junior and early pro years in Tappara, then went on to have a brief stint in the NHL before coming back overseas and play in the KHL for an extented period of time before returning to Finland and Liiga with HPK Hämeenlinna and Ilves. Last spring after he won the bronze medal with Ilves he sorta retired, did some broadcasting work for a short period of time but was then signed by Tappara for the rest of the season as he expressed his willingness to make a comeback. And here we are, what really shows his character as a person is that he's also had to deal with some issues in his personal life, not gonna go to details about them but he was able to beat his demons, come a full circle and win the championship where it begun all those years ago. Obviously it was a polarizing decision to make a comeback after all the farewells last season and it recieved it's share of critique but Konna, as he's known, though never winning anything sicnificant before this has had such a huge role in Finnish hockey, being a long time trusted player for Leijonat, Finnish national team, that I'm confidend to say that deep down there isn't a single Finnish hockey fan who hates him despite all the negativity.

@@JetLagWarriorsIt's great to share some insight and these small nuggets of information because it gives you guys so much more context to the things happening on the ice. But now it's time to have a breather and look forward to the next season, the team is obviously gonna have a lot of changes in the staff with core players like Heljanko and Levtchi leaving but that's nothing new to us, luckily there has always been some great substitutes coming in also although you really can't replace a guy like Heljanko who honestly has to be one of the best goalies playing outside of the NHL at the moment. It was such an emontional moment to see his interview after the game in the locker room where he was all chocked up with tears as he knew that this was it for him. He played eight seasons for us, came in as a young goalie from IFK looking for a chance to grow and play and as it was said in the interview by him and his trusted mentor for five years, goalie coach Aki Näykki, came such a long way from that point eight years ago to this moment growing not only as a player but also as a person, what really made the difference for him was the mental side of the game and once that started to find it's way he became the goalie he is today, it's not only about the technical aspect but also having a right mindset as a goalie, the winning mentality and the daily grind to make yourself better. Thanks guys for sharing your Finnish hockey journey with us, it has truly been a pleasure and an honor to follow you guys during it and we hope to see you again some day, it's a funny thing about us Finns: once we embrace something or someone as one of our own that's a bond that lasts a lifetime and trust me, you guys might as well be the honorary Finns from this point on.

@@JetLagWarriors Few other pointers: #19, Veli-Matti Savinainen, is the man to have on your team if you wanna win: he has a perfect record with six finals played and six champioships won. And what's great for us is that it was just announced that he has signed a one year extention. Also a big shoutout to coach Grönborg and what he did this season with the team, brought in a whole new way of playing hockey, not only in Tappara but in Finnish hockey in general and this hopefully shakes things up in a larger scheme of things and shows the often very concervative people at the higher levels of Finnish Ice Hockey Association, Liiga and others governing the sport that the game can be played successfully with more than one way. Finnish hockey has always been very institutionalized, we have had a pretty standardized system in place for a long time with emphasis on tight defensive game and not taking risks, playing the trap etc. and if you wanna be a pro coach in this country this is pretty much the only way they teach you the game should be played and coached during your studies. Obviously "Meidän Peli", "Our Game", has won us multiple World Championships and an Olympic Gold but what makes it problematic is that the global evolution of the game is going 180 to the other direction: faster, more offensive with the little agile guys dominating the game. This correlates with the sicnifigant drop in junior talent we Finns produce, from 2016 which was probably the greatest Finnish draft class to the NHL of all time with volume alone to this day where we can barely have one first round pick. And that truly is worrying. So hopefully this rattles the cages a bit and we can finally see some changes. One more thing about coach Grönborg, the passion he brought was unmatched, he's known to be a very loyal coach to his team who sticks up to them no matter what, speaks his mind and puts his own neck in the line if needed. And he sure did in more than one occasion, one being a heated verbal exchange with the referee boss of Liiga which included a number of f bombs and got recorded by a live mic during the post game interview although the argument itself happened off camera. It kinda reminded me of the old incidend in the NHL, can't remember who the coach was going at Don Koharski shouting to him "have another doughnut" 😂

Vuodelta 2003 peräisin oleva järjestyslaki toteaa seuraavaa: _Päihdyttävän aineen nauttiminen on kiellettyä yleisellä paikalla taajamassa, rajavartiolaissa (578/2005) tarkoitetulla rajanylityspaikalla ja julkisessa liikenteessä olevassa kulkuneuvossa.

If you do so I believe you will initially mainly be asked to move along and stop bothering people.

Tappara winning every year is starting to get boring. And Tappara marketing was criminally arrogant this year already, which means it will probably get even worse now.
