Another lovely reaction, Anna. This song is a whole heap of fun. I get the feeling in the video that it is parodying itself, but with a song that's so catchy you can't help but go along with it. I love that chromatic bass drive towards the end of the song, too. It sounds nasty, but in the best way.

Thanks for posting this. I'm glad that the band 'stepped up' to help. I believe the reason "Pump It" wasn't selected for Eurovision may be that there's a higher 'scream to sing' ratio than on some of their other hits. You just can't please everybody...

The sad thing is they applied with "Pump it" and a shorter version of "We got the moves" (the original is longer than 3 minutes). Pump it was discarded immediately (maybe to much swear words or to hard at the end) but WGTM got under the Top26. They lost because they were not radio friendly enough. The broadcaster who manages the national finale choose 7 employees of pop radio stations for their jury. They wanted to promote the songs by playing them at least once per day on each station. So they chose songs which wouldn't disrupt their programm too much. A lot of EC but also ESC Fans are protesting and they also started an online petition which has now over 120.000 signatures. You can search for it cause I can't post a link here :)

Oh the jury were public radio broadcasters and we call it pop waves (literally) here in Germany. They only play pop. The "hardest" one I heard there one evening on my public local radio were "Sunrise Avenue" with "Hollywood Hills" so that speaks enough I think. They have this weird reason to select songs that they will play in the week before the national final often, so the German public will be standing behind the Songs for esc (they would love to make them hits). AFAIK the German public aren't allowed to vote for their esc song in the final so that is bs.

And still amazing, that’s you, so is the band, but mainly you, and your reviews/content. Finns are awesome, like long lost brothers that we have zero hope of understanding unless they speak some English. But yeah, definitely love Finnish, like I said, really reminds, distantly to some Native American languages, like my ancestors, sadly never a written language, so it’s dying, and I can’t learn it where I am, and we’ll have to work to survive, buy a house instead of rent and throw away money. So I have to to do one or the other and lose something, a language or my future? Which do I choose? I can’t make enough to save and have retirement, buy a house and healthcare in Alaska. I can do all, but the learn the language here…so yeah, it sucks. But that’s life. So Anna, you’re my solution to that, I can do this, and have a little bit, but different of there.

Funny, with speed freak energy, but yes, at 73 I'm not feeling the best and the only energy I can muster is to sing and play guitar myself. I'm a doctor tomorrow and not looking forward to it. Aah, the aging process sucks.

Dad jokes in da house :) (guitar one) I have one unrelated question, are you switching between english and finnish by purpose, or just because you rly have two languages in your head and don't really pay attention?

Hahaahh if you see the most liked comments there's one even better!! 😂 I started this channel during lock-down to be able to help my Finnish students better. However, things escalated quickly and as my channel grew to be more international, I started adding CC as well as speaking more English. I still have both too young and too old Finnish students to be able to read written Finnish. I've actually gotten tons of positive feedback on the bilingualism which I am of course very happy about! Today, it comes very naturally and these two languages just falls out of me I guess.. 🤔 😊🎶

@@annavaskelainen yep, i've seen it, but still its just an escalation, you were first :) as for the languages - I weas curious because I often catch myself on random switches to english (which is not my native ofc), but i believe it happens mostly because i'm working in international company, so i just have to speak english much too often. And I think it is great when people can speak several languages, it helps to widen you perception of the world. Btw, thank you for subtitles in english, I know it takes an effort, but allowed me to understand your analysis, and I have to say it is awesome. Found your video mostly by accident, while farming EC reactions all over the youtube, and already watched all our EC-related videos and a couple more for both your genuine joy of the music and interesting analysis and findings. Thank you for your content
