If they are so stiff at new, get them Dry Cleaned, detergents are added to soften materials.This is the safest way to clean wool.

Today, I received a pair of these pants from you guys. Obviously never worn, brand new pants. Stiff as a board and very well made. Super high quality and very tight weave to them, should do a great job blocking the wind. I am taking them out this weekend, but have not tested them in the cold at all yet. I expect them to be decently warm by themselves, but very very warm over a good layering system. I do have to disagree with you on the pockets. The cargo pockets are great but the hand pockets are not deep. They are normal sized at best, even running to the smallish side. Not much of a gripe for me, acceptable. The only complaints I have are how stiff and rigid they are and that the button holes are definitely undersized, making it very hard to button the waist, fly, and pockets, I can only hope this is by design and that they will loosen up over time making them perfect. I put mine in the dryer with a pair of tennis shoes for an hour an it softened them up by about 50%. Overall, definitely well worth the money for a bush proof pair of wool pants. I will also say, wear a Levis 501 36/34 jeans and following your guide, the waist is perfect but they are at least 1-2 inches too long. Luckily, I know how to sew and can hem them.

Thanks for the feedback, I am glad you like the pants! The buttons should become easier with use :)

I’m dying for another pair of these!

@James James very durable, but maybe that could be a con depending on your use. They’re stiffer and bulkier, so squatting and kneeling isn’t so graceful. Full fit so not something I want to hike in very far. I use them for winter base camping...hike in with fleece-lined nylon hiking pants.

(Assuming these come back in stock some day)--how does the weight of the wool compare with the Swiss Army wool pants that you offer? (The Swiss pants are pretty thick already but I was hoping for something a notch up.)
@SwissLinkMilitarySurplus3 жыл бұрын
They were some of the best wool pants we've ever encountered and unfortunately it looks like the supply has run dry. The most devastating part of that is that we lost thousands in the Camp Fire. We liked them so much though that we've decided to make an exact reproduction. We've been working on perfecting the design to match the originals for a couple of years now. They'll be available by the end of the year. If that's something you're into be sure to keep an eye out! We will be sure to post about it on our socials and send out an email when they're in.

Hey I ordered some of these directly from Finland and they seem to be slightly oily to the touch. I have washed them three times and they still feel oily. Do any of the ones you sell have the same issue ? The seller told me that the residue is due to lanolin. My concern is that it is some type of protectant like naphthalene or mothballs and I'm scared to wear them freely. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated !

The ones we had didn't have what you're referring to. Best practice though for wool products is to have them dry cleaned. The next best thing would be a cold gentle wash with a wool-friendly detergent and a hang dry. Unfortunately, we lost our entire stock of these Finnish wool pants in the 2018 Camp Fire. Since then we've developed some pretty impressive reproductions, you can learn more about those here: swisslink.com/products/swiss-link-classic-wool-pants We will be restocking all sizes in a couple months.

How high up in temperature would you say that these pants are comfortable / usable?
@jukkakopol73556 жыл бұрын
those are for winter. Finnish army used those in winter. During my army times 85-86 we stop using those when temperature rise over 0 celsius.

Jukka Kopol I thougt that the limits would be aroud there. I think I'll jump on these then as we hardly ever go below 0 down here in the southern parts of Sweden.

These will serve you very well in freezing temperatures-and personally I would trade them in for a lighter pant once it hits 70 degrees F or so.
