Good idea. Adding flowering tubers or even colorful sweet camote leaves will also beautify the slopes. If the slope is too high, layering it like the rice terraces in Benguet is the best option. Unsolicited advice. Peace...
@charlesmeier2993 Жыл бұрын
You got quite a slope at the edge of your house. Now you fill soil which is practically "loose" and not settled at all. If you plant grass, it will only cover the top but won't keep the soil below stable. During coming rainy season with expected heavy rain, the soil is easy to be washed out without a retaining wall. Just as friendly advice. I live over 25 years here and can tell you that land erosion is critical.

Finn, there's an organic INSECT (for aphids beetles, moth and even mosquitoes) SPRAY = oregano juice for your plants. Thoroughly wash the leaves 2 or 3 times and throw in a blender: 100 gms. of oregano leaves with 2 cups of water. Strain the juice and place in a spray. Spray the leaves every other day until harvest time. But you have to buy oregano plants first to be able to have so many oregano leaves. Don't worry, oregano grows so fast.

Love your project! For your fruit trees, if you can , get a load of good compost and put a good amount around all of your trees, about a two meter diameter circle around the base of the tree. Then put a healthy load of mulch on top of the compost. This will feed your trees and keep the weed at bay and roots moist during the dry times.

@mwheless9530 Жыл бұрын
I’m enjoying your most recent videos about the house construction. It’s very similar to a house we built in Leyte, years ago. In our case,on two sides of the house, we needed to use earth fill to reinforce the foundation. Identical to what you are doing. On one side of these two, we used earth fill and had a border cement fence. This area was about six meters wide. The fence assured there would be no erosion of the soil. We covered this area with caribou grass. It’s a hardy grass and we got it for free from neighbors. We just used small patches of the grass and let it take root. On the second side, we had a small river close by, so we built a dyke to ensure no future extreme weather would erode our foundation. Not like yours of course. However, one thing we did when we built the dyke was used soil topped with a deep layer of sand. The purpose was to have a play area for our kids, now grown up. We use this sandy area, about three meters wide as a place for our dozens of potted bombels. We cemented and tiled the area closest to the house as a walkway and added a small half meter wide and half meter tall garden planting area for decorative plants along side the house.

I hope you consulted an engineer about that corner you are filling in. It looks like it will need a retaining wall, compacted fill every couple of feet deep. Just planting grass on top won't hold it all in place. It's an added cost now, but will save you big $$$ on the cost of fixing later. I wish you success. I'm a subscribed fan and enjoy your vlog.
